5Perfect Bedroom TV
By Louis M. Sensel
I bought this TV a couple of weeks ago primarily for watching DVDs in my bedroom. While I hooked it up briefly (via HDMI cable) to my DirecTv HD DVR just to check the picture (great with both SD and HD programming), most of my experience with the set has been with it connected to a Samsung up-converting DVD player.Color and contrast are spot-on. Adjusting the variable backlight, brightness, and contrast controls yields perhaps the best picture quality I've seen from non-BluRay DVD. Ther are 3 picture pre-sets-Dynamic for viewing in a bright room, Standard for normal viewing, and Movie for watching in a darkened room. Sound quality and quantity are perfectly adequate. Vertical and horizontal viewing angles are relatively generous. While there is not an over-abundance of inputs-one HDMI, one S-Video, a single set of component and composite, and a pc input for use with a computer, that's typical for smaller-screen TVs.When I purchased this TV, there were no reviews available online, so I was prepared to return it if it didn't meet my tastes or needs. But it has greatly exceeded my expectations. For viewing from a distance of 3-5 feet it's perfect.Well, maybe not quite. The menu text size is a little small for my middle-aged eyes. The glossy cabinet is pretty light-reflective, as is the screen, if you're watching in a room with a light behind you. And the picture settings apply to all inputs, so you can't store a different set for, say, watching TV, DVDs, or Video games. And the tiny light-touch and poorly marked control buttons on the right side of the cabinet are too easily pushed inadvertently when you pick the set up to reposition it.Still, those are minor beefs, far outshadowed by the excellent over-all performance of this TV. If its 19' size is adequate for your needs, I highly recommend it.

5Good picture, good sound, good look
By Igor Sukhenko
I got this TV yesterday to replace my 19" LCD HDTV Sharp which I got from Costco. I do not like my Sharp. Quality of picture was not good and I could not really adjust it to be better. Sound level was too low in maximum position. My new Samsung beats Sharp everywhere. I can adjust sound much louder; quality of the picture is much better right out of the box, without any adjustments. It even looks better.I use the television in my kitchen and so far I am happy with the picture and sound.

4Great TV for smaller spaces
By R. Stott
I've had this TV on my desk to the right of my computer monitor for about three weeks, and have been extremely pleased with it. It replaced an Avermedia TVBox 9 that I had hooked up to a 17" LCD monitor. The difference in picture quality, even on standard non-HD content, is remarkable. Contrast and color are great, and required little if any adjustment out of the box. And none of the backlight issues I've read about with some of the earlier 19" Samsung models. As for HD content, I find myself watching movies on AMC in HD that I've seen 19 times before ... simply because of the radically sharper view on this TV. As another reviewer mentioned, at about a 3 to 5 foot viewing distance, it's hard to beat the picture. My only complaint is that the sound is a bit thin in tonality. Adjusting the sound equalizer to boost the bass and midrange helps considerably, but this is one area the unit could stand some improvement (we also have the 26 inch Samsung, and the down firing speakers are a bit weak in it as well). On the other hand, much of my TV listening is done via the Sennheiser IS 410 wireless headphones, and the sound it gets out of the audio-out plugs (RCA type) on the back is full range with no loss of tonality. It's strictly the speakers.Overall, I'm very pleased with the unit and would highly recommend it for a location like a kitchen, office, or dorm room.

4Great value for the price
By chaostheorem
Easy to setup and easy to watch, the 22LG30 is an excellent buy for the price. After purchasing this unit and receiving it, I had it wall-mounted and setup in almost no time. The color and picture requires some tweaking (I had it set to 'warm', from the default 'cool' setting and also increased brightness a bit) and the audio as others have commented is weaker than what you'd hope to get (I improved the audio by increasing treble and bass to 100%, and setting the sound option to 'music' from the default). One thing I could not adjust as well was the black, which was not quite as black as I would like but better than what I expected (from an entry-level priced LCD TV).Overall, I am quite happy with this purchase!

3Compact size, controls on top, but lip synch problems
By Ronald Reimann
Good picture, compact size (the frame is narrow so takes less space), has PC input that works fine, menus pretty nicely done, but has serious lip synching problems, doesn't fit picture to screen all that well (and yes it is 16:10 so images are slightly tall). Sound has weak frequency range and does sound tinny, however I used headphone jack to feed stereo audio output to my receiver and that feed sounds fine. As I write this, I'm thinking there has to be better model out there...sharp and Toshiba 22 inch displays were not yet available when I purchased this one, only other option was a Vizio, which I tried, but dark backgrounds had lots of noise.

4Very Good Starter TV and for Small Spaces
By Anubis
Overall, this TV is excellent for what I want of it. I'm not sure what others had in mind when they purchase it, but for my needs, this TV is absolutely perfect doing double-duty as my computer monitor and small bedroom television. It's actually 22", widescreen, and high-definition, with brilliant color, nice design, compact size, hidden speakers (which, somewhat reduces audio quality, but adds to visual appeal), and at least one hook-up for any kind of device you need. As a monitor, it takes my computer to a whole new level, and as a HD television for my Xbox (using a VGA cable), the images are overwhelming at times. For the price, this TV is an excellent purchase, and a great compact television. However, the one I bought had a single burned out pixel (which I was too lazy to take back and replace with another TV; not that noticeable unless you're watching something that's really dark and are sitting a foot away from the screen); plus, the TV has no tilt or turn ability. Instead, it just comes with a simple, small, rigid stand that locks into the bottom of the TV (however, once again, for my purposes, this really doesn't impact me too much). Also, audio quality is not great when using the TV's speakers, but since I mostly use the TV as a monitor, that once again is not a big deal. The only other thing I'm not thrilled about is the widescreen images seem to not be exactly widescreen; they seem a little short actually, causing circles to appear more as vertically stretched ovals, even when the TV and appropriate devices have been set to display in widescreen. However, the distortion is very slight, and only noticeable if you pay attention.Overall, for the price, this is a great desktop or small bedroom TV. At 22", being high-definition, a television, and sylish, with all hook-ups on the back, this will be more than worth the value as a computer monitor and TV, especially for those on a budget.

5Great TV at a great price!
By Jeff Jones
We purchased this TV on Black Friday. Wasn't expecting too much from it since the price point is so low. However, it has an excellect picture and we love it! We bought it for the bedroom. I wish we had bought another for the living room now! Highly recommended.

2Fine until it died
By kkc
This was a fairly average television that I bought cheap around christmas. It died about two months later and, now going on week 5 of the warranty claim process, no one seems to be able to tell me any progress is being made.Video was excellent, audio was a bit below par, and the company has as of yet to show any usefulness.Edit Update: It took around 8 weeks to get through the warranty process. They have no notification system so you have to keep calling customer service for updates (many of which will be 'in processing'). They lost my paperwork once, but were fairly quick to find it when I told them exactly to whom and when it was e-mailed. In the end they replaced the unit with a refurbished one that seems to be working fine. Here's hoping that I won't have to do this again in two months.

5Great TV for the price
By Big Mike
I was able to get this in a black friday special for $300 and it was well worth it. I was a little skeptical about Haier because I had never heard of the brand. However, after 4 months of use it is great. HD Quality is great and it has 3 hdmi inputs and looks sleak. I am very happy i purchased this TV.

5Quirky DLNA, underwhelming documentation, but great picture and sound
By Tommy M.
I chose this model over other 32-inch LCDs because I'm a sucker for things like network streaming, a 5-band equalizer, picture-in-picture, and firmware updating. It also has a semi-documented headphone jack in the rear -- just turn off the speakers for it to work. Also, the power cable detaches, so you can replace that yourself. One might dismiss this TV altogether since it doesn't have LED edge lighting, but that tech does not appear to be earning its price premium so far, considering a higher percentage of panel defects, and a black level so intense that detail often gets lost. 60Hz is also not a deal-breaker, since 120Hz tends to only show its strength with sports programming. The picture quality is ultimately subjective, of course. But I found it well above average. Unfortunately, you can't completely disable Dynamic Contrast. The TV will tell you that it's off, but some enterprising Internet detectives at televisioninfo.com have determined that this is a ruse, which leads to some unavoidable light trailing and somewhat crushed blacks. DVDs look surprisingly good, and standard-definition signals look very solid but not outstanding.Dynamic Contrast, Black Tone, Shadow Detail, Edge Enhancement and the noise filters should probably be turned off. Unfortunately, these features can create more problems than they solve; use them sparingly. Like Spider-Man once said, "With power comes responsibility."I have a Roku box connected through HDMI, an Xbox 360 via component, and clear QAM cable TV through the RF antenna jack in the rear. These hookups are going straight into the TV inputs -- no receiver. I figure that this eliminates a testing variable or two. Picture quality and sound was great from all three sources. When I streamed Netflix over Xbox Live, the Xbox appeared to upscale to 1080i. I could not get my 720p Roku box to do this over HDMI.(Edit: I have also now tried a third-party VGA adapter for the Xbox 360. It looks quite good using the console's "Expanded" reference level; at least on par with component, and upscaled DVDs look quite good, but not as good as Blu-ray.)Audio is in a better boat, since the SRS functions can actually be turned off (as far as we know). There's also that 5-band equalizer. I thought the TV did surprisingly well for two downward-facing 10-watt speakers, but they won't quite replace dedicated external audio. The D550 doesn't do Internet apps, but this feature is becoming increasingly redundant. As for network sharing, you are not limited to Samsung's proprietary, Windows-only "PC Share Manager" software, either. There's a variety of free, multi-platform software that handle networked media libraries. Unfortunately, Samsung appears to have not implemented DLNA according to spec, so you may have trouble getting third-party software to work properly. I had the best experience with TVMobili, which is thankfully free and compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux. Serviio is also good.In its promotional material, Samsung swears that its Wi-Fi "LinkStick" dongle is *required* for wireless networking (and it is not bundled with this TV). This is simply not the case. You can just use a wireless-N Ethernet "game adapter," which can be had for as little as $30 if you shop around. Dongles are also only compatible with a few devices from one manufacturer.(Edit: It's come to my attention that an Intellinet 523974 *might* also work in place of Samsung's official dongle. I cannot directly confirm it, though. It is also reportedly 2.4Ghz, while the dual-band Samsung model adds a 5Ghz option.)The "E-manual" built into the TV's menu system isn't very good and is difficult to navigate. The PDF version on their website is... a PDF version of the e-manual. Which is white text on a black background. So much for printing it out...Also, the two-piece pedestal requires a Phillips screwdriver. That's not bad, but the screws required quite a lot of torque to get them all the way in. Also, you need to attach the top part at a certain angle, or else it won't be flush with the base.A note about shipping: Amazon Prime does not currently provide 2-day or next-day shipping for this unit; "3-5 business days" is the official line. This is not unusual for products of this size and weight. However, the unit arrived at my door less than 48 hours after I ordered it. So I appreciate Amazon's and UPS's fast service! But your own experience will vary according to your distance from the warehouse and other factors.(Update 4/25: This item is not currently shipped from and sold by Amazon, nor eligible for Amazon Prime. "Video & Audio Center" is handling the item instead. I am not familiar with their service, so the previous paragraph does not apply to the current purchase experience. "3-5 business days" is still the official shipping time, but I don't know how long it may take this third party to process the order before shipping. It may take a few hours, or a few days. Just a friendly heads-up.)Despite this TV's quirks and poor documentation, I think it gets 5 stars for a really good picture and above-average sound (as long as you tweak that equalizer for some bass). I guess that's what matters most in the end, right? Please leave a comment if I've left you with questions, and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.--Edit Jan 13 2012--Just reporting in to say that the unit is still performing just fine. It's performed quite well as an interim computer monitor -- just make sure to label the input as "PC." I don't recommend using it as a permanent computer display, because pixel density at this screen size is sub-optimal. (At desktop distance, you don't want larger than 24 inches, assuming a maximum resolution of 1920x1080.) But with some cool-looking wallpaper, its presence is not unwelcome :)However, LG has been pricing their LCDs very aggressively lately, so I recommend researching those units as well.

4Great Buy!
By D. Acree
I bought this item a few days ago after doing a multitude of research on flat screen TV's. Frankly, I was ready to be done! Our focus was finding a TV with an external width no larger than 37 5/8". We were faced with a limited selection of 37" TV's or some barely close 40" TV's. The 40" TV's that we had to choose from were LED and cost roughly $1000 or more. Rather than being faced with a close fit of an expensive TV, we decided 37" would suffice. Then we were caught between buying a Samsung or a Sony and whether to get LED or LCD. In my opinion, the Sony brand commands a brand premium in price. Nice TV's though. I read a lot about LED v. LCD. The LCD is still energy efficient and is energy star qualified. After seeing the picture difference of the LCD and LED. My wife and I were both okay with LCD. Then I researched the difference of 60 hz versus 120 hz refresh rates. Okay, I understand the technical mumbo jumbo of this, but after comparing in a store the difference I couldn't tell. Maybe my eyes are not good enough anymore. We also bought the Samsung USB wireless adapter. I thought from all my reading that this TV had some Internet functionality i.e. Netflix etc. It DOES NOT. If you have a Wii or some other game platform that allows internet access - use it and save your money. The wireless adapter will work with some Samsung Blu-Ray players as well. The only thing the wireless adapter will do is connect with your pc network and play movies, music, and pictures from your pc. If this for you - great buy the wireless. Note: it has a network interface for wired applications on the back as well. The nitty gritty of the TV. It works fantastic. Exceeded expectations on standard definition movies and TV broadcasts. No dark "halo" effects when the picture is dark. HD works fantastic...almost too clear and crisp to tell the truth. Works great in the game mode with the Wii. I know other's have said the sound/speakers were issues, but my family thinks it works just fine. The PIP(picture in a picture) function only works when viewing programs from two sources i.e. broadcast and DVD. Not a big user of PIP. Set up is easy. Remote is easy and intuitive to use. The enclosed manual is "light" on info. TV does have a manual you access through TV - it is more in-depth. For $569 and our first upgrade from a CRT TV - I have no regrets. TV is great for everyday use - watching broadcast, movies, games, and PC use. But then again, we didn't need all the bells and whistles of higher end models. Hope this helps your decision.

5Best TV I've personally seen in 2010 and 2011
By Eric Berg
For the last year I've been looking for a TV to replace my 2009 Samsung 26" LCD. It had what some people call "smudging" or "smearing" where if two really dark images move near one another, the black area would leave a trail. It looks sort of like when you make a dark circle with a pencil and run your finger over it. It made night scenes in movies and games really distracting. I even saw it in people with black hair watching 720p Lost episodes. From what I can tell so far, this set has none of it. I went through a Sony, a Toshiba, an LG, and another Samsung. All but the LG had this issue, and the LG had atrocious black levels due to it being a technically "better" IPS panel. I love my LG IPS monitors, but for TV it looks awful. So I stuck with Samsung's PVA panels, and boy am I glad I did.I immediately turned off all the video processing options and turned the backlight down from 14 to 8. IMPECCABLE picture as far as I'm concerned. Looks incredible even at 1080i. It's no plasma, but hey, 32-inch plasmas don't exist, so I'm content with LCD.I have no idea how the input lag is for video games since I play relatively slowly paced games. No fighters, competitive FPS, or other twitch reflex games in my library. I'd be a bit leery if that's super critical for you until more accurate tests are out there. It seems fine to me, but I'm not very sensitive to lag, so take it with a grain of salt.Bottom line, great picture quality, great black levels (for an LCD), decent motion handling (it IS only 60Hz), lots of options to mess with, plenty of inputs, a sleek design. I would buy this TV again in a heartbeat, personally. As the first reviewer said, JUST what I was looking for.

4Great TV, sans the speakers..
By Tobias Milton
I had never purchased a Westinghouse-branded item before, so I was skeptical. But at this price point, it was the only option that had all of my requirements: 1080p, 24". A comparable Samsung is at least 50-100 dollars more.Pros: -The picture is STUNNING. Full 1080p resolution makes Battlefield 3 and Skyrim look fantastic. I use the TV mostly as a monitor. -The weight is almost nonexistent, and it is thin as a razor, taking up very little space. -The base is fairly sturdy, with a simple thumb-screw securing it. -Menus are easy to navigate, and the remote has buttons for all inputs, so switching to HDMI from TV is a breeze. -The brushed graphite aesthetic is pleasing, and only the base is glossy.Cons: -The SOUND... Is like 1,000 harpies giving birth to Lord Voldemort while he hugs Draco Malfoy. It is detrimental to the auditory canals, and it's uncomfortable for everyone involved. No bass whatsoever. I had read the reviews warning of this, but I ignored them. They were being generous. -The buttons on the TV and remote feel kind of cheap, but they are responsive. -The inputs on the back are kind of oddly placed, especially the coax cable, but it works out well. Having a USB port and 2 HDMI ports more than makes up for it.Overall, it's a great deal, especially if you get it at $200 like I did. It offers a ton of screen real-estate (I upgraded from a 22"), and plugging in my nice Logitech speakers fixes the sound issue. I would definitely consider buying Westinghouse again.

3Good, but with some issues.
By Shawn
I got this TV about a month ago and so far it's pretty good. The price point was right (I paid $170 at Costco) for what I wanted to spend on a 24" 1080p TV, so I considered it a good deal for me. But, there are some concerns.Overall I really like the TV, especially for the price I paid, but the remote is... not very responsive, or at-least the range/angle of the sensor in the TV or the remote itself is rather limited. More often than not I need to aim the remote DIRECTLY at the sensor and make sure I don't just tap the buttons else it won't register. Not a "huge" issue for mer personally, but it's still a concern and an annoyance. One other annoyance is that the coax is situationed in such a spot that it's hard to screw on an antenna (or what have you) since it's facing sideways to the left and is pressed right up against the back of the TV. I was able to connect the antenna, but it was a pain in the butt. I can understand why they did it, but they probably should have created a bit of an indent behind it so the consumer could have an easier time with it.I would recommend the TV to anyone who wants a cheap HDTV but doesn't want to settle for 720p, no TV tuner, or a serious lack of connection ports (such as only 1 HDMI, and no VGA or USB). The visual quality seems very nice to me (of course I'm sure the true high def devotee's will notice a difference), and considering that I'm heavily into gaming on my 360 I can say it's a solid solution for a cheap gaming set.If anyone has any questions about the TV feel free to comment and I'll see if I can answer them.

3Not terrible, not great
By Lmv
I bought this television at Target. The price was great (189.99) considering the size and the fact that it's 1080p. I couldn't find anything comparable. The picture looks great. The coaxial cable connection is poorly placed and difficult but not impossible to connect. I do not have issues with the remote control as others have stated. My only problem is the sound. It's terrible. Very "tinny" and sounds muffled. I've tried to adjust the settings but I can't tell the slightest difference. I am going to try connecting external speakers to improve the sound quality. Overall this television is great for the price, size and picture resolution. The one major deterrent is sound quality.

5Great Purchase
By sau
I was debating whether to get this TV for such a low price of $548. I tried to see if there are more reviews other than the existing 7 reviews in Amazon. I called on Dec. 16 (Sunday) afternoon at 4pm to see if Haier has any customer service representative working, and to my surprise there was a person answering the phone. I asked if there is any authorized Haier service center in San Francisco and the answer was yes. Therefore, I decided to give this TV a try and order it from Amazon. I received the TV today with enhanced home delivery (EHD). EHD means the delivery person will deliver the item inside your home and take the TV out for visual inspection and turning it on to ensure the unit is working properly before leaving. I immediately checked the TV by connecting it to a DVD player to ensure the HDMI ports worked. I also scanned the TV channels to ensure the tuner work. The TV work beautifully: the color is brilliant and the sound is good. I own two other TVs: a 40" Sony LCD and a 42" Panasonic LED. So far, I am glad that I make this purchase.

3Great TV for price, plan for surround sound system
By Plantain
I just got this TV yesterday and for the price I think it gives you alot of bang for your buck. Its quite large with a great refresh rate. The sound however is terrible and you will definately need to get either a soundbar or surround sound system to compliment this system. I can usually live without one but this is the exception.

3Good Value, Decent Picture, Very Terrible Sound Quality
By Brian Berndt
This 55 inch TV was a great value for the price that I paid (under 700 +tax, shipped). I am happy with the Picture (1080p, 120 refresh rate, LED). My son has found that the tv picture quality degrades when very fast motion appears on the set. This causes some blurring...which was specifically mentioned as not being a problem for this TV.This TV has 3 HDMI inputs which is adequate. There is not a digital sound output as available from other brands. The biggest knock on this TV is the terrible sound quality from the internal speakers. I am able to use my digital audio output from my Directv box directly to my surround sound system, as well as our PS3 that we use for BluRay movies (and gaming), but there are times that I would not normally run the surround sound with my previous rear projection TV, and now I have to use the surround sound for everything.

4Good all-around
By Andrew Pleasants
I bought this TV as a do-it-all device. I wanted to get a FP LCD monitor for my computer, and I was looking into panels that had multiple inputs. I wanted to be able to use it to play games and watch DVDs as well be able to use it for my computer. I figured while I was at it I might as well equip myself with something that can handle HD signals and I can watch tv on as well. The following is my take on its performance in said areas:PC:As a computer monitor it works very well. I am EXTREMELY picky about this type of thing and I wouldn't say it was good if it wasn't. I use it primarily as a PC monitor and I would rate it's pc performance a 4 out of 5. To get the best picture you need a decent video card and a decent VGA cable(read: WUXGA or UXGA and some cases SXGA because of the high resolution of the panel). DVI->HDMI does not display well, you can use it in a pinch, but it will not look right, the tv was not designed to use this as a pc input. VGA works just fine, but you have to be sure you enable your resolution to match the native resolution of the monitor (the same is true with ANY LCD FP if you want the best picture quality). The native resolution of the panel is 1366x768... you can enable 1360x768 and it will chop 3 pixels (you dont lose any visual data, it just doesn't use these pixels) off of each side. Look for a program called "powerstrip" if you can't get your desktop to accept that resolution by default. If you choose not to use a widescreen desktop, then set the monitor picture size to 4:3 instead of Wide and use a desktop resolution of 1024x768 (the height of 768 ensures that you are still using native pixels). If you have trouble getting games to run at 1360x768 this is also a good option (set the game res to 1024x768 and change the picture size on the monitor). The picture quality is crisp and clear. There can be some very minor "ghosting" effects around certain colors/texts which can be aggrevated by a poor quality VGA cable. For the most part you will not notice this unless you sit extremely close to the panel or you display odd color combinations (i.e. fine bright blue text on a black background blurrs a little bit). As I said, I am extremely picky about this type of thing and if it was bothersome enough to return the monitor, I would. As with most LCDs it favors red a little bit and sometimes there can be a bit of boldness/bleeding on strong red in tight spaces (like a bright red bolded font). As far as pc games go it performs beautifully. Games are crisp, vibrant and clear. Best of all there is no response time "ghosting". This is something I was very concerned about because I play a lot of CS, BF2, etc. This monitor responds just as quickly as my CRT. I noticed absolutely no ghosting.Note: Most games today have command line options to set their resolution to special/custom sizes. The widescreen res you are looking for is 1360x768. Some games (like CS1.6) do not specifically support 1360x768 but do have wide aspect resolutions that still work well, but there is slight interpolation using non-native resolutions that will cause things to look a little different (still very very playable). And if all else fails you can always use 1024x768 and set the monitor to 4:3.Games:When not using it as a pc monitor I use it mostly to play PS2 and Xbox. I purchased component cables for both (which I would highly recommend) so I will comment on that. Both systems are very crisp and very clear. There is NO ghosting whatsoever and I read that others had problems with delay in response and lag between input and action on-screen. I have noticed no such thing. Again, I am extremely discerning about this type of thing and if that were the case, I would have returned it. Perhaps they had faulty panels or were using odd input sources. As far as component goes, they play VERY well. Again I would rate this 4 out of 5 because I have noticed a strange problem with PS2 displays. In certain PS2 games when there is very fine detail or there is some type of filter/mask/blur effect in the game, the panel seems to display it incorrectly. Its really hard to give an example, but its like if there is a blur effect on a shiny object, instead of the blur being uniform and fading, it has something of a checkerboard pattern. It is akin to trying to reproduce 32-bit color in 24 or 16-bit mode on a computer... it takes the two closest colors and checkerboards them together so that it seems like its one solid color. I have only noticed this in a handful of games, and even in those games it is usually restricted to whatever the softening/blurring effect is on. If you want a good example, pop in Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1. The game seems to have a full screen blur on it, I suppose to soften the sprites and make it more fluid. However, when using component cables (I have tried 2 different cables) the screen just seems to have a checkerboarded pattern instead of a fluid/smooth fading/softening to it. A minor gripe (except for in FFT since it takes up the whole screen) but a gripe none the less. I dont know if its the panel itself, the way the PS2 outputs to component, or perhaps just my panel. But I can say that I dont notice it on Xbox or on the pc. The only other game on my desk that I can think of that displays the problem is Mega Man X8 (which looks sweet in progressive mode, just hold down X and triangle as the game boots). Around some parts of the characters (easily seen on Zero's sigma blade) there is a shine/blur effect and it does the same thing.TV:I dont have HDTV or digital cable for that matter, so the standard signal is decent at best. Very watchable, but it performs like all LCDs do when using a non-digital/HD signal. No gripes.DVD:Crisp, clear and vibrant. I don't have component cables for my dvd player so I havent watched any in progressive scan yet, but via PC and PS2 (SCPH30001, no progressive) it looks fantastic (I think I actually prefer the PS2). I can only imagine it with a pro-scan set top.Bottom line:As long as your panel is in working condition and you have the right equipment for it, it makes a dynamite PC and videogame monitor. Thats the whole reason I bought it so I can assure you that I am very critical about those features. I don't know why other reviews are stating it doesn't perform in those areas when it does. Don't be shy of this model if you want to use it for a PC, games, dvd or a TV. It shines in all categories, its not extremely expensive and its about the perfect size as an all-in one without being too big a monitor or too small a TV. I recommend it.

I'm not sure how I lucked out with deal but I'm not going to complain. I went to Circuit City to look for a 20+ inch LCD TV and compared 10-15, really leaning towars the Sony or Samsung models. When I was about to leave the salesperson asked if I had seen the LNR238W yet. They hadn't received any in the store yet but it was on their website as a 'Coming Soon' item for $1,099. I went home and looked online for the model and was able to find it on Amazon for $850.00 with shipping. I bought it that same day and am glad I did. The best part of this TV by far is the picture quality. It's gives a nice crisp picture on any channel and handles fast motion with ease. The only issue I have is that it doesn't provide wall mounts that will work with this model, so for now I have it on it's base. All in all, it was a great deal and I'm surprised that Amazon is now asking $1,000 for the same model two weeks later.

5excellent purchase
By K. West
I know nothing about LCD/HDTV/digital/plasma, etc. I just know what looks good and this does. The picture is sharp and incredibly clear. It was easy to set up with my Replay TV and DVD player. There is no glare even on a sunny day with the blinds open. Viewing is great from anywhere in the room. It is small and light weight, so I can easily move it when needed---it replaced a TV that weighed 50 lbs and required my godson's help to move.I love it!
