Product Description

As spectacular as it is thin, the 42” Class Edge Lit Razor LED LCD HDTV delivers a brilliant, breath-taking picture in a razor thin design. 1080p Full HD gives it vivid color and impressive contrast, while a 120Hz refresh rate provides smooth, ultra-sharp viewing for fast-action sports or movies. If you’re one to appreciate real depth in color, you’ll also enjoy its striking 100,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio that produces truly deep blacks and brighter whites. No matter your lighting arrangement, you’ll always have you the best picture possible thanks to built-in ambient light sensing technology that automatically adjusts backlight levels based on its surroundings. The result is a balanced picture that will never appear washed out or too bright.

5Straight forward LED TV
By triggz
I don't need TV internet apps because I connect this unit straight to my desktop PC. I do photo and video editing so, since this TV is connected in my desktop PC, this will serve as my 42 inch monitor in my living room. Images of the photos are clear and precise, and much more..Pros:- Image quality on playing DVD movies is Excellent.- Image quality on playing Blu-ray movies is Superb.- Shadows and dark spots of the screen is very well balanced.- Sleek design and Price- Awesome PC monitor ;-)- If you want a basic LED TV with excellent visuals and performance.. no need to look any further.- Very Happy with my purchaseCons:- None- Lack of Internet Apps (for some)

5Hot Damn
By S. St Pierre
I plan to add more to this review later on, but this TV is legit. Netflix (streamed from a roku) looks crazy good even only at 720p (Netflix only streams 720p on roku), Haven't watched a Blu-ray yet, but I suspect I'm going to need to change underpants after.[updates]Okay, rented a blu-ray (and borrowed my sisters player) Blu-Ray was way too smooth and detailed. so I turned the smoothing down to low to give it a more cinematic feel. Looked great. As requested I tried out the Picture In Picture and it works great. You can have a small window on top of your main window and move it to the sides, top, bottom, middle, and switch which screen's audio is the focus of the TV, or plop them both up side by side sharing equal screen space. Also, as a side note, the channel scan was the fastest channel scan I've ever seen and captured ALL of the channels that I get from my HD antenna. Regular TV looks better than DVD quality did 10 years ago. I'd say even better than unconverted 1080i on my 60Hz 1080 screen from last week.

3Excellent Value, but not perfect
By J. Rice
Short version...The bottom line on this TV is that it is an excellent value for the money, but it is far from perfect. I purchased this for my sons play room in the basement, and it performs that function very well. I personally would not use this TV for my primary TV, but that is because I have a TV that costs twice as much and I can see the difference. Now for the extended version....The Good:-Super thin TV, with decent styling.-Very light weight and easy to wall mount.-Cheapest LED-LCD you are going to find anywhere unless you buy a refurb.-Picture quality is not excellent, but certainly above average for a less expensive TV.-Screen seems to be resilient to ambient light sources and viewing angles are very good. Mine sits in a basement corner near a fluorescent light. The light does not affect the picture that badly and the viewing angle even from 15 feet away is not bad at all.-Even with strong ambient light and/or florescent light in my basement, the picture is not badly washed out.-Plenty of connections for whatever you might need. The Bad:-Sound is just flat out terrible. most LCD televisions have small speakers that sound bad, and this TV is no exception. The speakers are on the sides of the unit and produce no bass whatsoever. I hooked up an old stereo with a simple left and right and it was instantly better. If you are buying this TV, go ahead and buy a cheap surround system as well because you are going to need it.-the "VIZIO" name on the bottom of the bezel lights up white when the set is powered on and glows amber when the set is off. This cannot be disabled. Not sure how much power this wastes when the set is off. It is not terribly distracting when watching TV with the lights on, but with a movie on and the lights down, it gets annoying.-Picture uniformity. there is a noticeable "Flashlight" effect when in a dark room and the screen goes completely black. You can see bright light emitting from all four corners of the screen and the center of the screen is darker than the rest. From what I can gather, bad screen uniformity is a common problem in most edge lit LED-LCD televisions. In a normally lit room watching normal TV, it is not as noticeable to me and I can live with it. My Standard LCD has much better screen uniformity, but it also costs twice as much.-Remote control has glossy finish just like the TV, and shows find prints like mad.
