5Best 60 inch LED for the price
By Kris
I had been patiently waiting for this TV to become available via Amazon, mainly because of the unbelievably low price and good review given on CNET, but got tired of waiting and ended up purchasing this TV on 10/13 from Costco. They had just gotten a shipment in that day and once I saw it in the store, I knew I needed to get it. CNET had mentioned that the off angle viewing was not as good on this set when compared to LEDs from other manufacturers, but I haven't had any problems viewing this TV even from extreme angles. The TV was not quite as bright as the LG next to it at the store, but I believe this was mainly due to the matte finish of the screen. The LG had a glossy screen which made the picture very bright, but it also reflected literally everything behind it. My TV is now set up in a very sunny living room and the glare is minimal. Much better than the 37 inch Sharp LCD it replaced. For those looking for a basement TV, a glossy TV or a plasma might be the way to go, but for me, the matte finish was the best option. The TV has an extremely thin bezel which I really appreciated because it allowed me to get a 60 inch screen size out of a TV that takes up the same space as many 55 inch units. Out of the box, the colors were pretty good, but I am still hoping to find detailed color settings posted by CNET or elsewhere. If anyone has a good link, please share :) The smart features work reasonably well. Amazon Prime and Netflix both ran just fine. My only complaint so far is with the Amazon Prime interface. It is very paired down when compared to the version offered over my PS3 and it took a long time to browse titles. If you know what movie you want though, you can simply use the search function. So far, I am completely satisfied with this set and for anyone debating between a $1000 LG or Samsung 55 inch and this 60 inch Vizio, I would highly suggest getting the Vizio. I was really surprised at how much larger the screen size was when compared to the 55s next to it at the store and the sharpness and clarity of the picture was comparable to the LGs and Samsungs costing several hundred more. Costco is currently selling this set for $979, so hopefully Amazon will price match once it gets in stock.***Update***I found detailed picture settings for this TV posted by katzmaier on CNET and thought would I pass it along for others to try. Shutting off the back light control and ambient light sensor features definitely brightened up the picture.---Picture settings menu---Picture Mode: MovieBacklight: 53Brightness: 50Contrast: 75Color: 51Tint: 0Sharpness: 0---Size & Position submenu---[no change]---Color Temperature submenu---Colour temperature: NormalRed Gain: 104Green Gain: 115Blue gain: 130Red offset: 129Green offset: 130Blue offset: 132--Advanced Picture submenu---Smooth motion effect: OffReal Cinema Mode: Smooth [grayed out]Noise Reduction: OffMPEG NR: OffColor Enhancement: OffAdaptive Luma: OffFilm Mode: AutoBacklight Control: OffAmbient Light sensor: Off

5Phenomenal TV ~ Takes HD to a whole new level
By Andy Rosenblum
This is without a doubt the finest TV that I've ever had the pleasure to use. In comparison to my 5 year old Samsung HD TV, this one makes the Samsung look like a part of ancient history. The first thing that grabs you is the incredibly sleek design. The bezel surrounding the TV is razor thin, thus there is no wasted space at all. Not only does this provide for excellent viewing, but it makes it possible to place the TV in a cabinet that's just slightly larger than the TV picture itself. It's unlikely that you would want to put it in a cabinet, first because it's difficult to find one that would accommodate it, and second because the TV looks beautiful fully exposed. As for the picture, it's extremely brilliant and so lifelike that when watching sporting events, you get the feeling that you're actually at the event. The same applies to watching any live broadcast, such as the news. The colors are vibrant and right on. In addition, the vividness is spectacular under all lighting conditions, as well when viewing from an angle. I have mine placed in a room that gets a lot of sunlight, yet somehow, the picture looks just as brilliant as it does in subdued lighting conditions. Although I have my own sound system hooked up to the TV, prior to doing so I tested the internal speakers and found them to be excellent for a TV of this size. The remote is very user friendly and works very similar to a smartphone. One of the nicest features of this TV is the built in wi-fi. I guess that almost all TV's have this feature now, but Vizio brings it to a whole new level. The wi-fi enables you to access virtually any channel that you could hope for, including the obvious ones such as Netflix and Amazon. There are so many other streaming channels available that you'd be hard pressed not to find something great to watch. I own another, much smaller Vizio TV, which I purchased for our kitchen, and I'm amazed at the picture and sound quality on that one as well. Vizio seems to have an advantage over other manufacturers, in that they provide a super premium product at a cost that is significantly lower than the competition. It amazes me that this TV cost about half what I paid for my Samsung, yet it's light years ahead in quality and features. The only concern that I have with Vizio, is that they don't have as long a track record as some of the other TV manufacturers. Only time will tell if their quality is long-lasting. Undoubtedly, by the time you read this, something new and improved will come along, but for the moment anyway, I believe that this is the finest TV that you could purchase for the price. It really is an awesome and thoroughly enjoyable experience to use and as far as I'm concerned, there are no negatives. I believe that you'll really enjoy using this fantastic product and that it will provide you with a great deal of pleasure. It's much more than a TV, it's an experience, and a really, really good one at that. If I could give this 10 stars I would.

2LCD panel failures & audio sync problems (now addressed with warranty extension and firmware update)
By S. P. Linke
PROS- Big and bright; nice color; matte screen for bright rooms- 4 HDMI inputs- Thin and very attractive minimalist glossy black frame (less than 1" wide)- Built-in WiFi and DLNA; most of the popular subscription-based smart apps- Great valueCONS- High LCD panel failure rate (On 2/8/2013, Vizio publicly acknowledged this and is addressing the problem. See below for details.)- Severe audio-video sync problems (In mid-January 2013, Vizio released a firmware update to fix this issue. See below for details.)- Still some glare in bright room- Takes about 18 seconds to "boot up" from power on- Only one shared composite/component input for older devices- Slightly gray blacks and somewhat uneven back-lighting, although this likely varies between individual units- DLNA and smart-app implementations are very crude (you are probably better off getting a dedicated device to do these, like a Roku or Apple TV)- Ports hard to access on back, which is particularly a problem for the USB port, if you want to plug and unplug (somewhat inherent in thin flat-panel TVs)LCD PANEL FAILURE ISSUEMany owners, including me, were reporting a problem where the image would disappear but the backlight and sound would remain on. This required full replacement of the TV. On 2/8/2013, Vizio acknowledged this problem in a "special bulletin" revealing that a bad batch of chips were installed in units with serial numbers ranging from LFTRNWAN3800001 to LFTRNWAN4805300. It also affects a range of the 70" E701i-A3 models. Vizio extended the warranty from one to two years for that specific problem. However, Vizio said it was "promptly" and "proactively" contacting registered customers about the possible issue, but, disappointingly, there is no evidence that they have done this beyond the bulletin and a blog post.AUDIO-VIDEO SYNC ISSUEMany people were reporting a variety of audio-video sync problems, particularly with cable boxes and Dolby Digital audio. Vizio initially blamed the cable boxes and had people set them to output PCM audio (rather than Dolby Digital). Unfortunately, that downgraded the audio to two channels only. However, in mid-January 2013, Vizio released a firmware update (version 1.1.5, which can be seen under Menu>Help>System Info>Version) that allegedly fixes the problem. Also, the Vizio seems more sensitive than average to different HDMI cables. Video periodically drops out completely (screen flashes to black for a few seconds) with cables that work fine with other displays.QUALITY/CUSTOMER SERVICEWhen my first unit failed with the LCD panel problem after only 23 days of use, I was very disappointed that Vizio initially only offered to replace it with a "recertified" unit. After a great deal of insistence, they agreed to send a new one.In addition, when I communicated with them about the audio-video sync problem, I was disappointed that they were blaming my cable box that worked fine with my other displays, and that they insisted that I downgrade to two-channel audio to "fix" their problem. In my online chat, the Vizio representative stated the following: "The newer TVs that we manufacturer are set up for PCM rather than Dolby Digital. So it is not a defect in the TV, you will just have to connect it a different way."I have mixed feelings at this point.

5Should be a Bestseller
By Artset Outset
I nearly pulled the trigger on a Samsung 55" model but while chasing the cheapest price, ran across this LG at Best Buy for $1799. Detailed info is hard to find, but it was available for store pickup so I took a chance without seeing it first since I could return it easily. I am glad I did. I cannot imagine a better picture. Observations:Container is 56-1/2" x 40" x 21" with 2 hand holds on each end. Two adult males handled it without much difficulty. Comes with stand attached. Clip the bands, lift the bottomless box up and put it where you want it. I did not, but plan on 3 people to wall mount it.You are not going to get home theater audio out of any unit without a subwoofer. It is simple physics. This one sounds pretty good for what it is. You can easily connect it to a home theater system with the Digital Audio Out or RCA ports. It has no separate Subwoofer Out port.I read an article that expounded on the limitations of the human eye to distinguish contrast at any one light level. Think of waiting for your eyes to adjust to bright or dark conditions. The point made is that contrast specs are BS. Test eqpt might measure another TV as having more range than this one, but I don't think your eyes would detect a difference. This TV has good black levels and maintains them as you crank up the brightness. I still think plasma has the best picture but can't live with its shortcomings. I question the benefit of LCD LED backlight beyond reduced energy consumption and a skinnier unit. Maybe it improves black levels? If you have digital cable as a primary source, don't blame muddy dark areas on a TV. It is just excessive compression they use to save bandwidth. Sat TV is generally better. OTA broadcast is beautiful. Everything falls short of 1080P DVD. A gamma adjustment can help tweak this problem. This TV has some "expert adjustments" including gamma and black level. I haven't played with them, yet.One of the imaging engineers I work with gave me a chart that shows the limitations of the human eye with respect to HD. Per the chart, you have to get a lot closer than normal viewing distances to see the difference between 480, 720, or 1080 resolution. This TV is big enough that it might matter to some folks and it looks great up close. I start to see the screen door effect at about a 24" viewing distance. Even with eagle eyes you would not see it at a comfortable viewing distance.SD content looks very good but you can't make it HD. The interpolation algorithms work well. NTSC (the old analog standard, what you get from a VCR) is 320 x 240. Standard DVD is 480P. This is an area where you could see big differences between products.TV's are moving toward becoming personal computers. I can see future units having a PDA for a remote and full capabilities. That will be cool. I can't wait. This one doesn't have any of that except a USB port for displaying pictures and playing music. It appears that computer capability is what makes a big difference in price. In my opinion, the most capable units are still pretty lame. This is the bottom of the line model but the only difference is the computer features. This TV has a PC port. Online streaming content is 480P, at best, and extremely compressed. I don't think it looks good on a big screen.Menus are well designed. This TV makes it easy to optimize to your preferences. I did not like the "Auto" setting for picture brightness. I wanted it brighter. Otherwise, the initial setup wizard did the job.No S-video. Seems like it is being dropped by the manufacturers.I would like to have 2 antenna inputs but the only TV I found that has two is Mitsubishi.Since broadcast frame rates are around 30 fps and interlaced only refreshes half of the lines, I think the effectiveness of 120hz (240hz)refresh rate is pretty subjective and content specific. Same goes for the 24 fps movie source stuff on DVD. This TV has settings for these features. If I find them useful, I will update this review.I could gush awhile, but I think I will watch the TV instead. When you read other reviews that gush, apply them to this one. Thanks to all of you who share your opinions and experiences with us. It helps a lot. For TV, even visiting a store will not help much because they do not optimize the picture and the store lighting is usually green. So the brightest one tends to draw your eye.

5Great big honking TV!
By David A. Franklin
I bought this because of the great price on Amazon. I was going to wait until Christmas and get the best price on a large 52+ inch LCD or plasma but saw this model on sale at Worst Buy for just under @1500. Checked Amazon and they had it for $1418.19 and thought with free shipping and no sales tax, I was getting it for a super bargain.I was concerned about some consumer reviews I read. They all said the picture quality was fantastic, but there was a problem with the sync on the sound. I already had sound system hooked directly from my Comcast Digital Cable box so the sound sync problem never was an issue. In playing with the TV, I did try the speakers to hear how good they were and I wasn't very impressed. There is a sync problem when using the internal speakers so I just turned them off and will forever use my sounds system and get great sound. The picture quality is really great. I was watching a few of our favorite shows on the first night we had it, and I noticed how much more detail I could notice with this TV. My old LCD was a Sharp 46 inch and while the picture was fantastic too, the detail level that this 55 inch provides is so much better.Shipping was free and very fast. The item shipped from Phoenix and took a total of 7 days (ordered on Sat and delivered on Friday to be in my home.Just a quick follow up. I have seen that the price on this TV has dropped.....but I also have noticed that the availability of this item is also very scarce. When you factor in free shipping and no sales tax, the price I paid wasn't bad at all. Also, the home delivery and set up is a great value.I am very happy with this purchase. The low price and free shipping made this deal a super value! The only negative I can point to is the sound quality of the internal speakers and the sync problem. I read on another forum that they were able to overcome this with composite cables but I wanted the advantage of HDMI cables.Overall, super TV image, super seller, and outstanding quality for the money! One year update:I have had this TV for over one year. There picture is still perfect and haven't had one lick of trouble. I am guessing you can't buy this anymore. The LED LCDs seem to be the new trend as they command a higher price.Too bad this TV will probably last 20 years....and as long as it works, I am not buying another big TV.

5Great TV for a very good price
By Heinz E.
I have had this TV for a few weeks now. Actually it is my second. The first one delivered came with the backlight not working correctly. It would turn on/off flicker all the time.I called Amazon and got referred to LG customer service. LG customer service after going through an unsuccessful over the phone troubleshoot attempt opened a case for repair. Called Amazon back, gave the LG case number, and got the TV promptly replaced (old one picked up when the new one was delivered). The new TV works great with standard and HD programing (cable), up-scaled DVD and Blue Ray content. Media PC output- connected via HDMI is equally crisp and clear. Controls are simple and intuitive, would definitely buy again.Amazon service including customer service was outstanding, easy to reach and very helpful (native English speaking support - NOT some difficult to understand, outsourced service)!!

5great television
By James Whitmore
My wife an I love this t.v. We have it in our bedroom and love it's compact size and great picture. It took only minutes to get it from the box to viewing. It is very easy to navigate through the on-screen menus. The only draw back I have seen is the remote. I had to return the first one I bought because the remote quit working. The replacement developed the same thing after two months. I called philips and they were very helpful and sent out a new one. I also bought a universal remote at best buy for 10 dollars (also by philips) since then not a problem three months..

3Good TV. If Wall mounting, READ ON:
By Nazareth geek
First thing: I bought this tv from Target walk-in after seeing it here. Great picture for SD 4:3. Very good sound (5 watts/channel vs. 2 or 3 w/c for comparables). Near complete input selection (coax, composite, s-video, component, DVI-I). A good tv for this class IF NOT WALL MOUNTED. If you plan to use the included stand exclusively, this seems to be a worthwhile tv.Backstory: Bought tv as a gift to be wall mounted in a kitchen on an articulating arm. Chose a Peerless SA730P articulating mount for 10-24" flat screens (a quality mount from a respected company). Tv to be mounted about 5' high, with slight tilt down to table. Arm to swivel tv around for cooking/cleanup viewing. Tilt to be locked, arm extension and rotation allowed for viewing.Problem: The mounting point for an external mount (VESA 100 standard) is on the BOTTOM OF THE INCLUDED STAND! That's right. The stand pictured above is not removed to reveal a mount point in the center of the tv's back, but pivoted back 90° behind the speakers revealing the VESA 100 bolt pattern on the bottom. This moves the tv out from the wall by about 3-4". But, more important, it moves the tv up and out from the mount point MULTIPLYING the weight of the tv. Imagine holding the tv from a handle centered in the back of the screen. Now imagine supporting the same tv from a 4" lever connected to the bottom of the tv.Result: Failure of the mount to hold the tv with anything over a perceptible tilt down. I returned the tv and bought another brands' 4:3 20" lcd. The stand included with this tv unbolted from the VESA 100 pattern centered on the back of the screen (as I think is the norm). The articulated mount has since functioned well and as planned, with plenty of movement. The bummer is I think the picture was better, and I know the sound was, with the Philips.

4Nice Set
By Nyghtshayd
This TV is nice, it has almost all the hookups you need.Regular cable does look a bit... regular but that just may be because I have split the signal to another TV(a flat screen LCD) DVDs look just as great from a regular dvd player on this and my flat screen TV but now I can tell even better what is CGI and what is real. I thought that 20" would be too small but the clarity leaves that thought behind. My biggest problem is with the remote control and menu functions, they're clumsy, inconvenient, incomplete.Nutshell: If you've liked the picture on an LCD flat screen, this is not THAAAAaaat much better.Pros:+Great picture with unsplit cable connection+Can change picture format with one button+Change Color format with one button+Good sound**+Change sound format with one button+Looks good even when off+PIP when using as PC monitor-to-TV**+Smooth Sleek remote+Some nice remote functionsCons for TV:-May need color adjustments-Clock...? Where's the clock?-TV Menus are awkward and incomplete-Not HDTV... is EDTV...-No composite(RCA) audio output-Must use headphone jack for any type of surround and then the tv speakers are disabled.Cons for Remote:-Surf feature on remote??? It's a menu. I just as well enter the channels myself.-I would rather the input/source select to cycle the input channels than a menu.-Button placement is a bit awkward.-User manual Describes functions that this unit doesn't have(Sleep/Wakeup)-PIP on remote is only for if using as PC monitorDespite the cons, I would still get this unit for what i does do and for the price.

5Awesome TV!!!!!!
By TeriBerry
I did a lot of homework and research about this TV and others before I decided to buy this one. Let me say that I made the right decision. I received the TV only 4 days after ordering. Very fast shipping I must say, and not to have paid extra. I was so excited!!Set up was a breeze!! I had no problems connecting to my wireless connection and was online and streaming Netflix in 10 minutes. Worked right away with my DirecTV, and works great with all DirecTV's HD channels. Awesome picture, and it has options for wide screen, normal, zoom, or panoramic viewing. Most of the time I have it set to Zoom option, which uses the whole screen. And the sound quality is the best!! At just 10 volume, it is plenty loud enough for me. I turned it up to 30 and could hear it throughout my house!!I've had this TV for 2 months now, and I absolutely love it!!I would highly recommend this model if you are looking for a TV that offers HD and Wifi, and yes, I brag about it to all my friends and family!!Again, AWESOME TV AND AWESOME PRICE!!UPDATE--1-26-2013AFTER ALMOST 6 MONTHS LATER, TV IS STILL GOING STRONG AND HAVE HAD NO ISSUES. I STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TV IF YOUR IN THE MARKET FOR ONE!! IM LOVIN' IT!

2Excellent quality and price for a smart TV - BUT see updates
By liat2768
The review below was written soon after purchase. Updates a few months later are below. The quality of the picture on this TV is absolutely amazing. It was simple to hook up and set up right out of the box. It accessed our home wi-fi network very easily and the quality of pictures streamed from Netflix was beautiful. No issues with connectivity at all.The menu is simple and intuitive to use. Initial set up (where you input your IP address, home address, Netflix information etc) can be a bit annyoing since the remote does not have letter keys but once done there is really no need to have to deal with that again. The only apps I have tried out so far are Netflix and Pandora. The sound quality when playing music is more than adequate for my needs. While it does not have the 120 Hz that supposedly helps while watching sports we have not noticed any issues with it being 'only' 60 Hz.Initially, when connected to our old AV equipment, the picture displayed on the tv was quite poor. However, that had more to do with the VCR/DVD and cable quality than with the tv. With the older dvd player we couldn't get the picture to be quite 'right' and the automatic backlight adjustment needed to be turned off. Once we switched to a blu ray player that upscaled our dvd's the picture was absolutey amazing. So, if you are using older equipment you may not see the full potential of what this tv can do.Also, since the TV is Wi-Fi capable we bough a blu ray that was a bit cheaper since it lacked wi fi but was excellent at upscaling dvd's. Samsung BD-E5300 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black)The tv has 3 HDMI inputs, one component input and one usb input. Our kids have their Wii hooked up using the component input and a regular 3 prong AV cable and, while nowhere near an HD picture, it works. The Wii does not have the HDMI option so the picture quality is a bit disappointing for wii games. The newer version of the Wii should function just fine.Warranty signup was easily done online and I did speak to the Vizio customer service (based in the US) to double check a few things and everthing went very well.We have only had this tv for less than a week but, so far, we are extremely pleased with it.Update Sept 2012: Still a terrific TV. Start up is a bit annoying especially if you use it only to stream Netflix or Amazon since it takes a good 2-3 minutes just to get the app started. Otherwise, everything has been excellent and we are still very pleased with the purchase.Update Jan 2013 : Stuck on vizio logo on startup. Chatted with vizio and they will have a tech contact me in 5 working days to schedule a repair. From what I am seeing online the main board seems to be an issue with this brand. I am very disappointed that this would happen with a six month old tv. I will post updates once service is completed. At this point I would not recommend buying a smart tv or a Vizio. Better to go with a blu ray that has the apps and a tv that just does one job - being a tv.

4Vizio E322AR
By The P
PROS:Just bought this TV the other night and setup was easy, from a hardware point of view. Electronically connected to my DTV box and my home network with little effort, albeit, the remote was a bit touchy.Picture is what I would expect from a 720p unit of this size, clear and precise, good blacks with no artifacts visible.Sound is good with the surround turned on (from a surround broadcast channel).All-in-all, a great TV for the price, didn't really think I was going to find a "smart" tv in this 32" range with as many pre-loaded apps as this one has.If you're looking for a smaller (32") unit that will preform well in a bright light room, that can be seen from almost any angle, look at this model from Vizio.CONS:setup requires you to input some things with alpha-numeric characters and the remote only has numeric . . . keyboard is supplied on screen but navigates slowly until you get the hang of it.I had to use a Samsung code for my DTV remote to interface with this TV, the Vizio codes didn't work (probably too new for DTV to even know about it yet). Not Vizio's fault, a Directv issue.

5It's a Great Television
By Hank
Okay, Big Deal on the number of HDMI Ports. 3 or 4, what does it matter. I bought a television first and foremost for the picture, then sound. This LG has a great picture. Granted, its my first HDTV, but I could not be happier. I have compared it to some sets in bargain, mass "Mart" type chains and I can see a difference. 1080p in 32" is not commonplace yet, but it does make a difference. Fast motion sports and other similar types of viewing remain very fluid and no jagged edges appear. The sound is above average, but I certainly do not expect it to sound like my home theatre system. This TV is one that I would recommend to everyone.

2I should have bought another Samsung
By D. Alexander
I have a Samsung 52A650 in my living room -- great set. Unfortunately, the specifications on the Samsung 32A650 do not show that it has the same 120HZ frame rate as its big brother. The LG 32 - 70, however, is listed as having a 120HZ frame rate and its their top of the line model so I bought it. I also separately bought an LG Blu-Ray disc player to match with this TV.Both TV's are fed from the same video source. The picture quality on the LG is markedly inferior to that of the Samsung. The color range is narrower, the picture loses definition in the shadows and it seems grainy. No contrast, fineness, brightness, etc. adjustments are able to improve it to come close to the Samsung. Also, the LG Blu-Ray play does not appear to up-convert regular DVD discs to higher resolution. I have an up-converting DVD player connected to the Samsung and the picture quality of a standard DVD disk played on the upconverting DVD player is clearly better than that of the same DVD played on the LG Blu-Ray player. The LG products are okay, but no more than OK. I wish I had ignored the specifications and bought the Samsung 32A650 instead.

5Brilliant Picture
By Marek
I got this TV as a replacement for an old CRT for the bedroom. I was nicely surprised that the TV has DTV and HDTV tuners and through my Cable service, without a cable box, it scanned and added plenty of DTV and HDTV channels that look absolutely stunning. It beats hands down the picture quality I get from the supposed HD DVR cable box I get from my cable company. As far as other features on the TV, I love the Smart Sensor which automatically adjusts the picture brightness based on the room's lighting. In other words, the image gets bright in the mornings when there's full sun shining through the window and gets dimm at night, without ever loosing any picture quality.Lastly, stop by and talk to your local TV repair shop to know which brand to buy nowadays. They are the best place to find out based on how many repair complaints they get, how expensive repairs are and how long do they have to wait for replacement parts from the manufacturer. Yes there are better and at the same time more expensive brands over LG like Sony and Panasonic, but LG has a solid track record so I got it recommended as a mid-range TV that won't give you headaches.
