5Beautiful Picture!
By prospurr4
I received this 55" Toshiba TV today from Amazon. I did a lot of comparisons, with the most-popular brands (in person and online) before deciding on this purchase. I have an old CRT Toshiba TV that's still going strong, so I thought I would research their LCDs as well. The picture is stunning, and Blu-ray movies are amazingly crisp and fluid. The sound is average, but that's not a deal-breaker for me because I hooked it up to my BOSE home theater system. I got a great price, free shipping with white-glove delivery, and saved a couple hundred dollars over the "popular" brand I was planning to buy. I highly recommend it.

5So love my new TV
By Nancy
My husband was not sure he wanted a new TV and now I can not get him away from the TV. The color is amazing and the contrast so sharp and clear, it is a pleasure to watch, I already owned a 32 inch Toshiba that I also purchased from amazon so I trusted the product, but was concerned about the sound because the smaller set has adequate but not great sound, but this larger set is much louder and it is not a real issue as we will be using the surround sound any way. For the price this has to be the best deal out there right now and I could not be happier. I have an issue with the shipping company but it has nothing to do with amazon or the quality of the TV so I am a happy custo

5Toshiba 55" LED TV
By A. Dalton
Excellent product, great picture, easy-to-use, versatile. The only 2 minor complaints I have are: (1) The speakers are a little inadequate for a large room or a room with noise in it. (2) The remote control will control multiple devices, but to do so, you must slide a little switch back and forth to select the device to control - cumbersome - (whereas many other remotes just have a line of quick push-buttons for selecting the device you want). But, really, it is simple to operate and adjust, etc. and provides a great picture. The shipping was fast, but the box clearly is labeled for two people to handle the box as it is quite large. But, one guy showed-up with it and had torn the sides of the box open. Fortunately, it didn't seem to hurt the TV.

4USB reads only music and pictures.. The rest is good
By Sid
When we purchased the tv there were no reviews as it had not even hit the market. so we took a chance hoping new technology is always better than any old one. We had a budget of under 650$ and I had some basic requirements like a HD input and USB ports. We have been using the tv for a little less than 3 weeks now.PROSThe tv is packed with intelligent technology like light sensor to match the lighting of the screen to that of the room for comfortable viewing and clear sound i guess to make the levels of dialogues stand out from background noise in movies. The tv has a very quick refresh rate.. reduces the stress on the eyes if you are a TV surfer. It is extremely simple to operate.. one would think that latest tech came with complicated controls.. but the remote and the control options put you at ease immediately. There are two HD input slots for your cable box and your PS/Xbox etc..CONSNow this is a BIG one and has me upset to no end. The USB reads only music and pictures. It doesn't play movies etc. One of the main reasons for me to purchase the TV was that and it let me down.So if you think you don't need the USB like I do, then you have no reason to shy away from this TV.

3No Audio Output!
By Ziggy
I would normally give an LG product "5 Stars", but this model does not have an audio output, so there is no way* to connect to an A/V receiver that I know of. I would not have bought this TV if I knew that. Hopefully, this review will help someone else from making the same mistake I did. The TV does have a good picture in both SD and HD.*If connected directly from OTA (over-the-air) antenna, or cable.Update 12/24/12: Since I now have a Dish Joey I connected the audio out from the Joey to the Bose Solo I recently purchased from Amazon.com. The sound now rivals many 5.1 speaker setups.

4Fantastic TV, but we are returning it ...
By WendyLou
Amazingly clear picture quality. Not 'jumpy' at all. The colors are clear and vibrant. The sound is ok, but there is no audio output to allow connecting a sound bar or exterior speakers (at least that we have found), so we will be returning it. We have purchased a comparable Samsung model for the same price that does have audio output. Bummer. This is a spectacular TV for the size and price.

5Well balanced and well worth it
By S. Phibber McGee
I did considerable research before buying this TV. I had a wish list of features that the wife and I had come up with plus constraints on my budget and the physical size of the TV due to existing space within our entertainment center which was of the pre wide screen era. While we had to compromise on several of our wish list features ( Internet connectivity to access things like Pandora most notably) the items we did not get seemed to be pretty much standard across the 32" size selection and apparently only available in the region of 42" and above.I had occasion to visit LG's website to attempt to determine info that was not shown in the Amazon description and was very pleased with the support LG offers even in just looking at their TV pre-buy. I had a real time chat with one of their CSRs who was able to get me the info I was looking for immediately and make several alternate suggestions. The longest portion of my set up time was assembling the base and attaching it to the TV. The instructions are extremely clear and set up is a snap.We were initially somewhat dismayed at the sound quality and its apparent loudness as we are not using a surround sound system with it as yet. However after a little exploring of the extensive set up menus I located some sound configuration selections and by changing several of those made a huge improvement in the sound quality. The fact that in order to locate these setting I had to spend a great deal of time exploring and fumbling around as opposed to them being part of the set up wizard that you run the first time out is the reason for my 1 star deduction off the Ease of Set Up category. Our seating arrangement is ideally spaced for a 32" TV and the picture is extremely clear sharp and bright at the recommended distance. We love the auto brightening and dimming feature of the display to match ambient room light. A minor note about this is that the sensor used to monitor the ambient room light is extremely sensitive to the point where a scented tea light votive candle burning more than 15 feet way from the TV and behind the viewing area was driving it nuts attempting to read and compensate for the room lighting until we moved it.In terms of "bang for the buck" and quality we are so pleased with this TV we are strongly considering getting a second one for our home office to do double duty as TV and computer monitor.

4Great TV, but first one had defective sound
By styro
We have a 60" LG plasma in our den, which we love, so when I needed a smaller TV for the home gym, I bought this 32" model. It's got a great picture and it's easy to set up, and with a Roku it was cheaper than similar "internet TVs" that come with the streaming stuff (netflix, hulu, etc) built-in. So for the price and the quality, it was just what we wanted. However, after about 20 minutes of being on, the sound would fizzle once and then intermittently cut out. It was almost like a feedback loop, once it started, the sound would cut out faster and faster until it just stopped working altogether. At first we thought it was the Roku, so we exchanged the Roku box for a new one, but it was still happening, and we tried a jump drive, and some other ideas, but eventually realized that it was the TV sound cutting out. We returned the TV for an exact replacement and have been very happy. But if yours does the weird sound cutting out thing, exchange it for a replacement!

4Our first flat-screen TV
By G. Speer
This is our first flat-screen TV, and we bought it because LG was recommended to us by a young man in a Big Box Store who seemed knowledgeable after we'd asked him about 20 minutes of specific questions. This particular model seemed to have the best combination of features and price we could afford. We've been quite pleased with it. The setup was very easy (once our son came by and helped us move out the gigantic, heavy old-fashioned RCA set we were replacing) and it did well out of the box. Once we upgraded our Dishnetwork setup to HD and hooked it up, the picture quality both in HD and SD (it's fun learning all this new video lingo) seems excellent. The only complaint we would have is that the sound system seems noticeably lower in volume than we would like when we're playing anything on the DVD, DVR or Roku systems. I don't hear any distortion, it just requires turning up louder than I would prefer in order to get adequate volume.Overall, we're quite pleased with the set and especially at the excellent price we got on it through Amazon.

4Great TV, No Swivel Base
By J. Bambrough
Beware, this does not swivel as advertised by Amazon!! That is the only reason I bought the LG over the Sharp 19" tv was for the swivel base for the same price. We have the Sharp and we like it better for its aesthetics and picture quality. The LG also has a great picture and easy set up, we just were looking for a tv that would swivel. It does also tilt slightly up and down to accomodate high or low placement/viewing. So, if you want a fixed base, it is a good bet.

4Amazing sound quality
By CallMeB
I shipped this 19" TV to my cousin, who is a mad gaming freak. He has a playstation and he is always hooked up with his television. The best thing about this product is the sound quality. It is amazing to use it in a small room, and the picture quality is pretty good. You get free shipping for this product, which is great. The price is just perfect, in fact I would call it a steal.19" "may" [personal opinion] feel small for your living room and this is more apt for a smaller room.A good alternative is LG 22LH20 [22"], which you can get for [...] - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001V5J7QQ?ie=UTF8&tag=tvrecommendations-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001V5J7QQIf you are looking for a TV in your bedroom, go for this one. 4Excellent TV, with a few issues
By Lawrence D. Cohen
Overall, I think this is an excellent TV, but it has issues which may or may not be a problem for you.1) The picture is excellent - very clear picture, accurate color. I have two other smaller HD TVs that are 720p, and you can see the difference compared to them.2) The stand doesn't move. The TV sits vertically, and you can't lean it or swivel left to right. This isn't a problem for me, but I mention it in case it might bother some people.3) The TV comes with instructions regarding set-up, but doesn't really come with an owners manual. I think this is a point against Toshiba, but it's not that big an issue, since you can download the PDF from Toshiba's web site for free. You'll need the manual if you want to know what the various picture size settings are, like "native" or "full" or "TheaterWide 1", etc.4) The sound is not good, it's rather tinny. My smaller TVs have much better sound. I think they should have done better here, but if you're buying a 46" TV, you're probably hooking it up to some kind of stereo/sound system. My stereo has good sound, so I'm not too concerned with the TV's own sound. If you're not planning to connect this to some kind of sound system, you'll be disappointed with the sound.5) The connections in the back for audio-out include an optical/digital output (little square plug), and an analog output(RCA plugs). Believe it or not, having analog sound output was a major selling point for me. When I say I have a stereo, I mean just that. I don't have a more modern Dolby 5.1 system. I may get one eventually, but for now I want to hook the TV up to an old-fashioned stereo, which does not have optical connections. That means I need a TV with RCA plug connectors for sound output. Other TVs, like a SONY model that I looked at, only have the optical/digital output, so I can't hook them up. Look out for this if you have an old stereo.6) It's an LED, so it's very thin, like less than 2 inches thick. It's no big deal for one person to lift it.7) The price here at Amazon is $100 less than most other places are selling it for.I'm very happy with the TV. The only thing that may have disappointed me is the sound, but my stereo takes care of that.

5Fantastic for the price
By Randolfio
I got this TV from Fry's for an unbeatable price - $699. The whole idea behind this thing is to give you a decent LED picture at a low price point without the frills. Sound? Yep, sucks. "Smart" internet features? Not here. But the picture is great, and I run it through my home theater system for sound. And if you're spending over $600 for a TV, why wouldn't you? I just don't understand people complaining about the sound on flat TVs. It's like buying an iPod and then complaining that the sound coming out of the built-in one inch speaker isn't good. That's not what they're made to do... You have to plug it into decent headphones or a receiver to make it sound like it should.Anyway, this TV does exactly what I expected it to and more. It's certainly not top of the line, but it has exceeded my expectations. It is a low-power consumption LED with great picture. Aside from the sound and lack of Smart TV features (which I knew about before buying) the only negative I have found about this thing is that you can see the light from the LEDs coming from the corners when the screen is pitch black. I don't notice it when there's anything on the screen, even with black bars in letterbox, but it's there on a completely black screen. Doesn't bother me in the slightest though.I highly recommend this TV if you can get it at the right price and don't expect more than what it is designed to do.

3Great Picture -- Very Poor Sound
By Goldrush
Just got it from Fry's for $599. Very nice unit -- beautiful design, great picture, but the sound is really bad. There is no dynamic range, and it sounds exceptionally flat -- tinny, unnatural sound. While another reviewer says that's what to expect from a flat screen, my experience indicates that's not true, as I have 7 other flat screens (mostly Sony and Samsung), and nothing sounds as bad as this. Since I only paid $599, I'm good with this purchase, but I'm wondering what Toshiba was thinking when they installed a 29 cent speaker in this unit -- I may call them and ask them. BTW, when the unit was in my cart at Fry's, I checked the reviews on my iPhone and read about the sound issue, but I thought, how bad can it be? I found out -- it's pretty bad. Thinking of adding a sound bar -- Zvox makes a nice one for about $250.

3Many DON'T HAVE SAMSUNG PANELS - HUGE quality difference
By HopefullyThoughtful
Many of these TVs don't have a Samsung panel (the screen/the part that has/makes the image!)! I cannot believe this has not been mentioned. It makes a SUBSTANTIAL difference, because some panels they use should be in TV's that cost $100 less.[...]Can you imagine buying a car because you know its manufacturer uses great, reliable engines, only to find out that they use completely different engines without telling you, all of which are of lower quality? Samsung does this with their TVs, and some of them don't EVER have Samsung panels (e.g., the 37" model will NEVER have a Samsung panel because they don't make 37" panels). Samsung uses 4 different panel types from four different manufacturers - each with a substantially different technology. You can tell which panel YOUR TV has by the "Version" on the sticker outside of the box. There's also a sticker on the back of the TV; the "Version" code is below the Model number and above the S/N. BTW, reviews can't be interpreted without the four-digit Version code because they are quite simply different TV's. Here's how to interpret them:("x" means a number, probably from 1-4, that represents the version of that panel - higher means newer but not always better).TH0x or TS0x: Samsung S-PVA panel (possibly just a PVA, if you're less lucky): This is what you thought you were buying. Best color, best black, best viewing angles.HS0x: Sharp ASV panel: Lower contrast ratio, more narrow viewing angle. I read HS02 in particular has terrible ghosting.A_0X: AOU A-MVA panel: Even lower contrast ratio.CH0x or CM0x or CS0x: Chimea S-MVA panel: You lost the lottery. Markedly worse in every way - way worse viewing angle, color reproduction, etc. Just a terrible rip-off.Mine, from Amazon, is an HS03, so a Sharp panel. I will be testing it tomorrow (DVD and watching football - no Blu-ray). There is a decent chance I return it, because it is not a Samsung. Also? Sony and Panasonic do much less "panel lottery" and are vowing to stop entirely. LG does not do a panel lottery. Samsung has absolutely no plans to stop, and they only use "standards" that won't reveal a difference between the different panels.I will update after doing more testing. I just simply could not believe that this was not mentioned. Nothing like finding out you paid $500 (40" model) for a $400 TV when that extra $100 could have been used for sound, Blu-Ray, etc.**Other reviewers, please, update your reviews to give your version code!**More reading:[...]UPDATED 10/24/12: Added info on how to find version number without the box.

5Great TV after a lot of tweaking
By Gordon
If you're anything like me you see that this TV is labeled as LED; then you look at the picture and see a lot of fat for the usual Samsung LED depth. Make no mistake this is an LED TV. I got this for my bedroom to replace my 23 inch Samsung Syncmaster. I use this TV mostly for 1080 mp4 movies and blurays (I download what I want to watch instead of waiting for it on cable), and my Xbox and PS3.I learned 2 things about the TV right off the bat. If you have Comcast, you cannot fully customize the TV's picture. An essential feature called HDMI black levels actually looks much better when its set to low. I have 2 different Comcast HD boxes and since neither of them broadcast at 1080, this feature is locked out. Long story short, Comcast had me thinking I purchased my first dud from Samsung. Seriously, the colors look washed out and none of the channels really had that crisp clear picture I was hoping for. If you plan to use this solely for Comcast, I can't really recommend it. In fact, I've always found blu ray quality to be so much better than cable that I've stopped using cable for anything but football and cartoons. Movies MUST be in my PS3's blu ray player or my own 1080p files. The second thing I learned about is what the depth is for. Samsung didn't advertise this (or maybe its just my TV), but I have absolutely NO BACKLIGHT BLEED. When Black Ops goes to the loading screen on my Xbox, it gets so dark that I think the TV is off! The only indication that it is on is the Black Ops logo in the corner spinning. There isn't even the SLIGHTEST inkling of white anywhere! I'm not exaggerating. The obvious second reason why this TV is fat for an LED is that Samsung made an effort to improve the sound. When I turn on the HD surround coupled with the movie option, there is much more bass than I thought it would be. THe explosions in my games and the soundtracks in movies sound vastly better than I thought they would. Granted, I am not the type to go out and spend 600 on some Bose speakers, but the sound is NOT a con for me this time around.NOW ON TO THE PICTUREAs I said, I was not exactly thrilled with the picture RIGHT off the bat. It looked like my old 23 inch Syncmaster, just a lot bigger. Let me tell you, this is not one of those TV's that look great right out of the box. You have to toy around with the settings a bit to get the optimal picture. I wanted sharpness coupled with colors that pop like crazy.....and I got it. Dynamic is the brightest setting, but I coupled this with the HDMI black levels set to low (option not available for Comcast cable box) and voila, moving photographs! I'm not a pro but this is my setup:Mode: DynamicBacklight: 18Contrast: 85Brightness: 50Sharpness: 80Color: 70TInt: G/R 50/50Standard color tone with screen fit in the additional options, with HDMI black level set to low.My games and blurays look AMAZING. The picture is easily better than my mom's 46 inch Samsung up front. REMEMBER that some of the good options are cut off from Comcast and the use of component cables. In games, I do have to up the brightness or gamma a little, but it ends up looking BRILLIANT. I am going through my entire library of games and they feel like entirely new experiences! There is a 32 inch 720p option as well, but I just was not comfortable with 720p max. The new game consoles are gojng to have native 1080 so that's what I wanted. BTW did I mention I'm a big gamer?THE CONSWell I saw this TV up on Amazon before it was on Samsung's website. Yeah, WOW. Sometimes I wanted to see the TVs specs from Samsung directly before I made my buy. Make no mistake this is NOT a 120 HZ tv although it is labeled as one. I have no idea what clearmotion 120 is, but it makes my TV much darker. The feature is entirely useless and does nothing to the picture or add the "soap opera" effect like I had hoped (it looks great for games).WITH A COMCAST CABLE BOX I could see no difference between HDMI and component. I kept switching back and fourth, but since the max output is 1080i, there were no differences in picture. The last iteration of this TV had 4 HDMIs. What happened?VERDICTWith a lot of tweaking, I got the picture to look beautiful. I will use my Comcast box sparingly, but I might move to FIOS if the support full 1080. Watching movies on my PS3 and playing games on my Xbox stopped me from returning the TV. I will not be surprised if this set gets bad reviews from Comcast users (even though Its not Samsung's fault). I'm a "videophile" and this passed my personal test with vibrant colors.FEEL FREE TO ASK ME ANYTHING!

4Very pleased
By wfc
As a grandmother who is not as technologically advanced as the younger generation, I did have concerns about buying a television that had to be programmed and the stand installed before using. However, my fears were unwarranted. As soon as I turned it on, I was stepped through the programming and the stand or base was very simple to install. With the weight only being less than 15 pounds, I was also easily able to manuever it by myself. I was watching programs within an hour although younger people would have managed all of this in fifteen minutes. My initial reason for wanting a newer television was due to my waning vision so had been looking into the 1080p with a 32" screen for some time. I can't believe how much I can read on that screen now that wasn't clear to me before. I had been advised that Samsung was one of most trustworthy brands, but found them locally to be out of my price range. This one was reasonably priced and with my Amazon Prime membership was shipped to me free and quickly I might add.I am very pleased with the color and the sound plus the ease of use with the remote in case I do have to change the color or sound in the future. I'm not thrilled with having to adjust the size of the picture when going from watching a news program with written information at the bottom of the screen to watching a movie, but it is easy to do so will just have to adjust to that feature.

5I guess third time was the charm
By Christopher Varela
I've been through 3 t.v.'s so far. The first t.v. I bought was my first HDTV ever but the picture was just not that good. I felt like it wasn't a good upgrade from SDTV. The second t.v. I bought had a really good HD picture and an acceptable SD picture, but no matter what I watched the picture was always dark for some reason even if I increased the brightness or contrast. That t.v. also lacked the inputs I needed for different things like my cable box, game systems, etc. After deciding to give it one more shot, I stumbled upon this t.v. with it's great specs and many inputs. I have to say that this t.v. has excelled my expectations. From Standard definition channels to High definition channels, this t.v. is a winner. It is so bright even during the daytime (funny how others mentioned this too lol) and it has those inputs that I wanted. So far I've played my Xbox 360 on this t.v. and the picture cannot be beaten. The picture is so crisp and clear that it puts those other t.v.'s I had to shame. Oh and about the picture being dark, it can't be. I only have the settings on the "Game Mode" that this t.v. has and I can see every detail there is in the games. I haven't even brought up the brightness or contrast yet and there is no need for it! There is even an option in the menu to make dark scenes even more clear! The sound on this t.v. is also good. I thought I had my surround sound speakers on when using the t.v. but I actually was using the t.v. speakers and yes they were that loud at a low volume setting. So here is how I sum it up:VIDEO: 10 out of 10I have not yet been disappointed with the SD or HD picture of this t.v. Whites are white, blacks are black.AUDIO: 10 out of 10If something ever happened to my surround sound speakers, I wouldn't care because it will be like they never broke.INPUTS: 9 out of 10It's nice that they're 3 HDMI inputs but I wish there was a second component input. But since everything is going HDMI these days, this is not a problem.PRICE: 10 out of 10I've seen this t.v. going for up to $899 but I bought it for $699. What a steal at this price.OVERALL: 10 out of 10Finally I have found the t.v. that I have been looking for all this time. I had to wait until 2008 to get it, but it was definitely worth the wait. If you have been waiting to get an HDTV, then now is the time to get it. You won't be disappointed.

5Great buy
By Christopher P. Walrath
I was looking for a new bedroom TV and decided on a 32" LCD. As I already own a 42" Toshiba Regza for the Living Room, I wasn't all that worried about having 1080p for the bedroom model.I shopped around for this one a lot and could not decide between Sony, Samsung or Panasonic. After 2 trips to Best Buy, I decided the Samsung probably had a bit more vivid color and a swivel base. I ended up purchasing the Panasonic, however because the Samsung seemed to be less "solid" in construction and the Sony was about $100 more with what appeared to be a worse picture quality.I've had the TV for a little over a month and it has been flawless. I actually think it has a better picture than my 42" Toshiba. It was very easy to setup, pulled it out of the box, plugged it in and went through a very user friendly setup. I like how the speaker is hidden, and is of surprisingly good sound for an LCD.My only potential complaint is if I ever decided to mount it on the wall, the base is pretty weird in pulling off, which requires you to tip the screen on it's side.

5Best TV I've ever owned
By Willow Wolf
I was really surprised at how good this TV is. The picture is perfect, no matter what kind of lighting is in the room, from full daylight to dim nighttime. It comes on quickly, and the automatic channel programming is just about flawless. The onscreen menu lets you control everything to set your preferences as desired. The HD programming (broadcast over the air) is just awesomely crisp and clear.
