By Mike I was a little skeptical, when I made this purchase, that I would be disappointed with the picture quality and functionality of this TV. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it hooked up and began watching broadcast TV in 3D!I will attempt to address the concerns I had when buying a 3DTV for the first time, and how this TV met all of those requirements. This is a legit review. I'm not one of those guys who cuts and pastes the specs from the LG website. These are my opinions/ observations based on my experience. I've done my homework. Price matched; visited big box stores (Sam's, BJ's, Costco); shopped BestBuy, Sears, HHGreg; checked out web deals; AND read reviews on 3D (active vs. passive)- Finally, realizing that this was the best TV for the money out there today.1.) My requirements when buying a new TV- My wife and I had an older model 42" LCD that was on its last leg. Our budget was $800 (not a lot compared, considering what I wanted vs. what she said we needed). I also needed a TV that would fit in an alcove above our fireplace. I measured the space and reailzed that bigger wasn't going to work or us. This 47" (measured diagonally) fits perfectly (wall mounted) in the cutout. It's just at 46" wide from side to side. Our room can get quite bright during the day, so I needed a TV that could handle the "light pollution." I wanted a 3DTV because- well- it's just a cool feature. I was concerned that it would be disappointing or that it wouldn't be compilable with my two year old receivers, BluRay, or my Xbox 360.2.) Picture quality- The LG 47CM565 delivers. It displays (like any TV, including the most expensive) whatever resolution it is being fed. Display rates can get a little confusing sometimes. So, basically, if all you have is a DVD or a non-HD digital cable box, you're not going to be able to take full advantage of 1080p. I hooked this LG up to my bluray via HDMI and we were able to watch in 1080p- also we stream Netflix through the BluRay player- also in 1080p. Regarding my bright living room, the LG 47CM565 has a feature that adjusts its brightness levels to accommodate for the lighting in the room. Fast motion images on the screen are displayed perfectly- no issues with a blurry image (it's silly that manufacturers (and sales people) even tell you that you should worry about a blurry image. Did your old tube tv have a blurry image when you were watching the game back in 1998? Nope, because it's not an issue and never has been. Back when I bought my first LCD, they didn't publish refresh rates because it wasn't necessary to know. Now, refresh rates (60Hz, 120Hz, etc.) are used purely a marketing thing. You'll see a TV with a higher refresh, "240Hz," and think that it's going to be a better experience. You're eyes can't tell the difference. Picture quality for me means watching my shows in HD and having it look like HD (having it look better than my buddies' TVs).I rate the LG47CM565 5 out of 5 in picture quality.3.) 3D performance: Active vs. Passive and the LG 47CM565- Like I said before, i wanted 3D because it's cool. I hadn't had a 3DTV before, but I was in Vegas when Sony unveiled their new active shutter technology. It was really neat- I played PS3 in 3D, I watched a minute clip of a concert in 3D... all kinds of "neat," right? Yep. Until I got a headache. The way active 3D works (and why everyone on the internet says it's rubbish) is it has battery powered glasses that darken the lenses of one eye at a time, in sync with the image on the screen, resulting in a 3D image. This happens 30 times a second so you don't see the darkening- except when you do. What I mean by this is that some times the glasses get out of sync with the TV- when they do you have to charge them or replace them if they're broken. Replace them at around $130 a pop. The sick feeling I got was from the shuttering of the glasses. Now I'm not one of those people who whines and moans about being sick all the time- but it was really disconcerting wearing those heavy glasses and feeling dizzy. Finally (an I won't go on about the drawbacks on active 3D anymore), I don't have children, but I do walk around in the dark- and I would be POed if I stepped on my $130 3D glasses (btw- passive are only about $5 a pop).Passive glasses and the performance of the LG 47CM565: Passive technology uses the same type of glasses as movie theaters. If you have a passive TV and disagree let me qualify my statement: the LG 47CM565 uses the same technology as the cinema. In fact, my wife and I are teachers and get movie tickets from our students as gifts. So, we've gone to the theater and seen six or seven movies in 3D over the past year or two. Well, being the cheap guy I am, I keep my glasses because I had to pay $2 for them. The main selling point for the LG 47CM565 is that those cinema glasses actually work with the TV- so, we have about 10 pairs of working 3D glasses for our new LG 47CM565.So what can the LG47CM565 do with 3D? Well, after I scanned through all the HD channels I figured I'd give 3D a whirl. The TV can upconvert 2D into 3D. What this means is it can take regular 2D broadcast and make look 3D. And it really does a great job. One note though. The higher the resolution (1080i, 720p, 1080p) the better it will be. Regular analog TV is kind of 3D- but honestly- no TV on the market can make analog TV look 3D. There's not enough information in the broadcast. I watched about 30 minutes of the news in 3D (HD channel) and it was impressive. Netflix on our bluray was perfect also. You'd think that you were watching native 3D. The real test was on the Xbox 360. I have Call of Duty: Black Ops and it has a setting to display the game in 3D. I read a lot online that suggested it would only work on an active TV- well I guess they didn't try the LG47CM565. The LG47CM565 has 3 settings for 3D (apart from up converting 2d to 3D), and guess what? There are three ways for devices to display 3D. The LG47CM565 WILL be able to play all of your 3D content in native 3D. As a side note, I also played a non 3d game in 2D to 3D upconversion (Fallout: New Vegas) and it was really awesome. It didn't have the "pop out" like COD, because it wasn't made in 3D, but it still made the front images come forward and away from the horizon. I am really impressed by what this TV can do.My rating for the 3D on this TV is 5 out of 5.4.) Plasma, LDC, LED?- I'll begin with the biggest question. Is LED better than LCD? My opinion- Not when I have to pay $300 to $500 more for it. The LG47CM565 has an LCD screen- all LED TVs have an LCD screen. The LED label comes from how it's lit. LED uses hundreds of little LED bulbs in the edge of the screen to light it. The LG47CM565 uses long bulbs. What does that mean- LED is brighter, but not necessarily better. If one of those little bulbs go out, you will have a dark spot in the display and (according to the salesman at HHGreg) the company won't repair it unless 20% of the screen is affected...ugh. If a bulb goes in an LCD and you have basic repair skills, you can change it yourself- not with LED though.Plasma- costs less, but doesn't always have the ability to display 1080p- most under 55" are 720p only. You might not notice a difference, but that's not a train I was willing to get on. I had $800- i didn't need to settle for plasma. If you only have $600, you'll get what you pay for (sure you might be a rich guy and say the same thing about the LG47CM565, but I got a TV that's comparable to the $1100 LG LCD's at the big box stores). My rating for the LCD on this TV is 5 out of 5.5.) Sound- I usually use my receiver for my sound, but was anxious to try 3D so I didn't hook it up right away. The speakers are what you would expect from any flat screen. They are at the bottom and angled downward so if you plan to hang the TV on the wall or use the stand, you won't have any issues. They are nice and full of base, but not muffled. My situation is a little different because there isn;t any clearance between the bottom of the tv and my mantle. I use my receiver anyway, so I don't have a problem. This isn't an issue with the TV- just a unique setup for me.My audio rating for the LG47CM565 is 5 out of 5.6.) Summary- I can find anything wrong with this set. Make sure you used HDMI cables to achieve 1080p (this is true with any tv). Read the manual to understand how to set up your devices for 3D (and yes, you do have to buy a 3D BluRay player to play 3D BluRay in 3D). Buy this TV and use the glasses you get from the theater. Hook up your PS3 and Xbox and play (via HDMI) in 3D. Watch broadcast TV in 3D with the upconversion feature.I hope that this is helpful. I am incredibly satisfied with my LG47CM565. If you're looking for a 3D set that is not to pricy and will display the latest and greatest in full HD 3D and won't break the bank- BUY THE LG47CM565!!! 19 of 21 people found the following review helpful. Awesome 3D and 2D tv, best picture By TJ I just purchased this tv about 3 weeks ago and all I can say is Awesome! I purchased at wal**** and before I did, i spend about 3 hours watching and comparing all the other tv's to this tv and all I can say is wow! This tv has such an awesome picture. I have never scene a better picture. As far as the 60hz goes, I am ok with this. I have viewed the other tv's with the 120hz and I personally don't care for the artifacts that cause the "live set" aka "cheap set or fake set" appearence that 120hz causes to 2d programming. Granted I am not saying that 120hz is no good, it actually is a nice feature and does some amazing things to the right movie and format. I just dont like the cons that i mentioned above so I had no problem getting the 60hz tv, plus this tv has super high response times of .0001ms so with that alone the picture with 60hz is just awesome. By the way, I got the .0001ms response time from targets website showing specs for the LG 47cm565 tv. The response time did seem extremely low but that was the only website I could find showing the response time specs for this 47cm565 tv so that's why I am going with that time. Anyways, for the price and picture you can not go wrong! It is such a beautiful picture its hard to believe. Thanks and Happy viewing. By the way, I put this review up here because when i was going to purchase, i could only find 1 review for this product which is the review above mine. So thats why I wanted to get my review here after viewing the tv set for few weeks. Amazon has some amazing prices for this tv, I recommend getting it from them. Like I said, I got mine from the Wal but thats because I had a credit card through them so I was limited where I could purchase it from. Thanks for reading and with this tv you can't go wrong!! Ps: I saw the 3d in action at the Best *** store and the passive 3d was Amazing and thought much better then the active 3d tv's although active 3d's are nice too but it comes down to prefference and the passive doesn't seem to make me sick to my stomach. All the reviews I was able to read on passive vs active seem to make passive the better way to view 3d but once again it comes down to preference. Thanks again 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Amazing TV and a Great VALUE! By Bort84 I won't get into too much detail because I am far from an AV pro, and some of the other reviewers on this page have done a wonderful job describing this TV in detail for those that are curious (I agree with the 5 star reviews whole-heartedly). I don't do reviews often (ever?) but this TV deserved more applause.I just want to say: WOW! Consider my expectations met and blown away (even after stalking this TV for a few months and reading lots of positive reviews). For this price, I just don't see how you could do better without some sort of crazy going out of business sale (and even then). I have done exactly zero tweaking at this point, and the picture is stunning. Clear, crisp, and bright with beautiful colors. The picture is perfect in our way too sunny living room, and the blacks are quite good too (one reason I was considering plasma, but decided to skip because of the amount of light we get during the day).So far, the TV has been exceptionally easy to use and set up. You could figure it out without the manual, no sweat.3D: despite often being belittled as a "gimmick" by a lot of places, it looks great. My husband was on the "gimmick" side of things until I had him come watch some 3D content to test it out. We ended up watching a movie we had no intention of sticking with for a solid 30 minutes because we were enjoying the 3D effects = ) At this price, the 3D option is basically free, so I figured, why not? So glad we did.Sound: For a thin TV, the speakers aren't bad at all. You could use it without speakers, but we do plan to get separate speakers to enhance the viewing experience.60hz: Personally, I dislike the "soap opera effect" that is often present in LCDs at 120hz or 240hz. I think this 60hz TV looks fantastic, even for sports.Appearance: The TV looks great too, though I could do without the shiny finishes (we have pets, and that slick surface attracts it like a magnet). It's sleek looking as well as light. I was able to set it up by myself, and I'm far from a strapping female.Smart TV: We plan to use it with an Apple TV, so I'm not missing the "Smart TV" features at all. Everything I've read says it's often best to pay less for a TV and then get a separate "smart" unit of some sort that suits your needs better.Again, I'm far from an AV pro, and those who've spent a lot of time sitting in front of a variety of high-end TVs analyzing them might find some fault with this set. However, for the price, and for our purposes, this TV deserves at least 5 stars. We've only had this TV for a short time, but I will update if we run into any issues. See all 40 customer reviews...

A good TV for your spare bedroom or den By WryGuy2 In my never-ending quest to replace all of my old cathode ray tube televisions around the house (three more to go!) , I decided to give this product, the "RCA 22LB45RQD 22-Inch Full 1080p LCD/DVD Combo", a try. This LCD TV is a moderately-priced, low frills television, but includes DVD player. Interestingly, the TV includes full 1080p resolution (many, if not most TV's of this size are 720p). For the non-technophiles, this refers to the TV's ability to accept a 1080p signal and display it with a resolution of at 1080 horizontal lines. More lines mean you can display a better resolution picture, although your input signal also has to have a high resolution; otherwise the TV will up-convert the signal. If you use this a computer monitor rather than as a TV, it will allow you to achieve a resolution of up to 1920 × 1080.Pros:- It's light, around 12 pounds total. The older 20 inch CRT TV that this is replacing weighs over 40 pounds. I'm continually amazed at how light and thin TVs are now. I used to buy televisions in part based on whether I could carry them by myself, and found myself limited to a 27 inch screen. Nowadays I'm probably limited more by the spread of my arms. :-)- You can choose from several different picture aspects (normal, widescreen, zoom, cinema) to get the least distortion and best picture, depending on whether you're watching an old 4:3 format show or a 16:9 widescreen movie. This is a nice feature that isn't always found on lower-priced LCD TVs.- There are plenty of input jacks ... one HDMI, 1 set of composite and 1 set of component video (only one of which is useable at a time, though), RF, a USB port, headphone jack, etc. All of the jacks are on the left.- The sound volume can be turned up very loud. The volume of many LCDs is a problem, where the loudest setting is barely adequate if there is any other noise in the room (kids playing, for example) competing with the TV. But the volume for this TV is great.- The remote is full-sized and laid out logically.- Assembly was easy; you only had to mount the TV onto its pedestal, which meant using 4 screws to connect the TV to the base. It took me only a couple of minutes, and after that, the TV was ready to go.- I had no problems with the DVD player, and it worked fine. Just note that you have to insert the DVD so that the label points away from you (which is intuitively backwards to me, at least). From the tech specifications info provided, the DVD will play/display the following: DVD/SVCD/VCD/CD/JPEG, and the USB port will play/display MP3 files and JPEGs.Cons:- Like most LCD TVs, it's slow to turn on and slow to change channels, although if you're using a satellite or cable box, the time to change channels isn't an issue. It takes five seconds from pushing the power button until the picture appears, and two seconds to change channels. This isn't a big problem for me, as I knew that about LCD TV's going in, but I mention it in case it's an important consideration for you.- The picture is very good, but the viewing angles are only fair (but better than some of my other LCD TVs.) It will take a VESA standard 100 X 100 mount if you want to hang it from your wall and adjust the viewing angles that way.- The power cord was a bit hard to connect (but you only have to do that once!)Overall, I really like this TV/DVD combo, especially how thin and light it is. It's a good TV for your spare bedrooms or home office/den. And due to the 1080p resolution, it can also serve as a decent computer monitor. Four stars. 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Great small screen By starstruck I love this TV for a small room! The color is fabulous and the sound is good too! I have watched several DVDs on it and everything has worked well. I suspect that those who were having trouble with DVDs were putting them in backwards because if you follow the very explicit directions and put them in with the shiny side forward it does seem slightly contrary to the norm. I hung the TV on the wall using a wall mount that I bought from Amazon and because the TV is very light weight it was very easy to mount. I did discover after hanging it that the manual control buttons are across the back edge at the top so if you want to be able to see them when you need to you might consider hanging it slightly lower on the wall so you can see over the top. In a small room such as I installed it in (10' square) it was the perfect size. Any larger would have overwhelmed the room. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better TV/DVD combo than this one is for under $200. 22 of 28 people found the following review helpful. BEWARE Dvd player likely won't work By PDrew DVD did not work on first one, Amazon easily exchanged for another of same model. DVD still didn't work so I called the RCA customer service. Their rep told me he had already taken six calls on this issue for this model TV today and did offer to send a box to have this one fixed. I told him thanks but I would simply return this and find a brand that works. He did give advice on another RCA model to avoid that was having similar problems. At least the customer service was nice and helpful but the DVD not working was a big dissappointment... See all 98 customer reviews...

I went to a few stores to see the TVs in person and to compare all the different brands and features. I had seen commercials for the Sharp Quattron so I specifically wanted to check it out.Hands down the Quattron has the best, brightest, and clearest picture amongst the LED/LCDs. I looked at all the plasmas which just seemed so dull compared to the LEDs and specifically the Quattron. I wanted the LED because it weighed less, consumed less energy, was brighter, and didn't have the risk of burn in or a plasma TV hum, or the glare issue everyone is talking about. It comes down to personal preference really and the debate will never end over which technology is better. But you CAN use facts to determine which to purchase. If you don't care about viewing angle, and want a brighter picture, lower weighing and power consuming product, then you choose LED. The newest LEDs really do have good black levels compared to prior years LCDs.The Quattron's colors truly are more crisp and richer than even other LEDs that I compared it to--it was so obvious with all of them side by side (especially with scenes containing yellow). I found the colors to be pretty realistic, true, bold, and rich. Some reviews I read were saying how the colors seemed unreal or fake. You be the judge. You can calibrate this TV however you want so each to his own with regards to color. I left it on standard and everything looked great right out of the box.It isn't as "fast" on paper as some of the 240hz models (mainly those with 3d), but it doesn't need to be. I'm not worried about motion because my 3 year old regular LCD with 120hz from samsung handled sports and motion just fine, and this TV does as well. As the other reviewer was stating, this 120hz motion engine is a beast. It, at times, makes you feel like you are on the set the movement is so smooth. Sometimes it may seem artificial its so realistic/smooth as he was stating so you can turn down some of the effects depending on what you are watching. I've compared this movement to other TVs and the movement is *consistent* on this TV and has no blur, whereas on some other LED/LCDs you will notice edge blur even on regular shows and I'd hate to see those on sports.I'm upgrading from a 46" Samsung Touch of Color that was top of the line back in 2008 and this 40" Sharp blows it out of the water in every way. I'm going to be upgrading to the 46" version of the Quattron since I love it so much.Network setup was easy, it found my home wireless network. I was really impressed by the built in wi-fi. I didn't even have to configure anything. I just turned the TV on, it found my network, and immediately asked if I wanted to upgrade to the latest software/firmware. The Netflix and other apps work fine, but honestly just about EVERY device now has all these built in apps (my ps3, blue player, and now the TV). So I prefer to use the apps via my PS3 to take the burden, if any, from the TV. Sound is plenty for this TV, but you can obviously upgrade to a home theatre system. I was satisfied with the built in sound and it was plenty loud for my needs.Bottom line is this is a very high quality LED. I have never invested in a Sharp product. I've always stuck with Samsung, but this TV has won me over. It is so high quality from the TV to the remote control (love it). You see this quality in the price, and with TVs, you get what you pay for.Final verdict? I am completely satisfied with this TV. It's very thin, light weight, bright, gives an awesome picture, and has good audio. If you want this caliber of a TV, but don't need the built in Wi-Fi (for many reasons), you can save money and get the 810 series. If you want all the bells and whistles get the 830 series, and if you want everything plus the 3D, try the 835 series. 71 of 74 people found the following review helpful. Turn off Film Mode By G-Prime At first I couldn't believe how unbelievably clear things looked! But then it started to weird me out a bit. I felt like I was the camera man and at times it took me out of the story. Also I noticed way too much detail in animated films and they didn't quite seem as fluid as they should be. In action based movies I started noticing that certain parts were suddenly moving a slight bit faster than seemed normal. This is when I really started to investigate all the features. To make a long story short, I figured out that the setting called film mode was giving these awkward effects. Basically turn it off to have a better viewing experience. The TV looks fantastic without the added feature so it's pretty much unnecessary for most situations. Also make sure you do some color calibrations. Start with the movie AV mode and work your way from there.Just remember no TV is perfect out of the box no one setting is perfect for everyone. Play around with the colors and settings until it looks good to you. I'm extremely pleased with the purchase! 54 of 56 people found the following review helpful. Great LED TV for the price By TWC Reviews play a big part in any television purchase and since I relied heavily on them, it only made sense for me to provide a good review that could help others. Overall, once this TV is setup correctly and all calibration and adjustments are made, it is by far one of the best TVs out there in terms of picture quality, clarify and accuracy. The out of box setting is acceptable but will feel like you are at a big box electronics store. There are a few calibration settings out in various forums so just search for them, try them all and choose your pick. There is some clouding especially when displaying blacks but nothing that will stand out during a normal movie. It is not distracting enough to take your attention away from any movie. Overall blacks are great. TV is loaded with features and options starting from full calibration settings to internet apps galore. One big con is that the navigation menu/software is far from superior. In fact, it can be downright horrible at times. You will get used to it but it could be better. Internet WI-FI built in is great but getting a good signal is not the best. I ended up using a wired connection with a wireless repeater. The TV tuner is borderline. It takes a few seconds to switch between channels regardless of advancing channels or punching in the channel numbers. Like other reviewers said, do not count of advancing channels, just punch in the actual channel you are looking for. Finally, this LED TV is the best value out there. For the price, you cannot go wrong. It is clearly about $200 cheaper than the competition and Sharp makes their own LCD panels. Here are a few calibrations from various sources. By KDM I was looking for a TV for the kitchen that fits in a cabinet so I had a limited size that I could work with. I really wanted at least a 26 inch TV.I had originally purchased a Samsung UN26EH4000 26 inch LED TV based on the excellent reviews, however when I got it hooked up I was dismayed with the pixelated picture quality with my DirecTV HD receiver.I started looking for other 26 or 28 inch TVs when I saw this 29 inch Vizio. I looked at the product dimensions hoping it would fit and to my surpise it was an exact match! And it was 3 inches larger than the Samsung to boot! At the time there were no reviews available so I really didn't have anything to go by except for prior experience with a 22" Vizio LED (still working, just wanted something larger). I decided to buy it knowing that Amazon has a great returns policy. I figured I would compare it to the Samsung and return which ever one I did not like. The assembly of the TV is very easy. The stand is not a typical flat panel stand (more on this later). It installs easily by just snapping into place and there are 2 screws that are hidden from the bottom to install. Very easy to install though. From there it is typical install of plugging in your cables. This TV has 2 HDMI ports, and the first port supports Audio Return Channel (ARC) which is a nice feature if you are going to hook up an AV receiver. It also supports standard composite and component connections and a PC connection. For audio connections it has an optical audio out connection and a 1/8 inch mini-jack audio out. This 1/8 inch jack is a standard headphone jack and the volume control of the TV controls the volume of this jack. THe Samsung TV does NOT have this feature and I sorely missed it. I use the 1/8 mini jack to hook up a nice pair of computer speakers for better sound and being able to turn off the TV speakers and still use the volume control from the remote to control external speakers is a great convenience. The picture on this TV is noticely nicer than the picture on the Samsung. Within a minute of hooking it up my wife instantly said this picture was noticeably better than the Samsung, which is strange because when I mentioned that I didn't like the Samsung picture she said it looked fine to her! Women, go figure! Just kidding. Both are 720p resolution but the Vizio is a much nicer picture. When you are close to the TV (within 3-5 feet or so you can start to notice a lower resolution but from a greater distance, 720p is more than adequate. I would suggest getting 1080p for anything larger. The internal speakers really are not too bad. They aren't surround sound quality but they are fairly robust and actually sort of loud. I forgot to plug in the external speakers at first and though they were being used because the sound was that good. As with most flat panel TV's there is very little bass.THe only strange (not negative, just different) thing about this TV is the stand. This TV does not have a standard upright stand. The stand consists of a V shaped bar that attaches at the bottom back of the TV and the TV actually leans back about 5 degrees to stand up. For my application this is good and bad. The tilt actually helps alleviate some glare from straight on light sources. For us, this TV is in an upper cabinet in the kitchen the TV leans back and it looks a little strange sitting in the cabinet, but in no way affects the functionality. Just be aware that it sits this way when purchasing. One of the stock images shows the approximate tilt of the TV when using the stand. It also has standard VESA mounts if you wanted to utilize an arm.The TV itself is slim. It isn't the slimmest TV but it is pretty slim. The outside frame is also minimal and provides for an overall sleek appearance to the TV.Aside from the funky stand, I would rate this TV a 4.95 stars out of 5. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Sexy tv By Joe Really thin, reeeeealy light. Perfect to use as a monitor or small bedroom tv. Dont buy this tv thinking that its going to serve as a set to watch the Sunday game on in your living room. Its got a 60Hz refresh rate. Thats as slow as it gets as far as HDTVs are concerned so as expected there is a tiny bit of motion blur. Its barely noticible but if youre used to a 600Hz set you will see it. Also, dont plan on being overwhelmed by in-your-face audio. Its not going to happen. The super slim design and thin bezel dont leave room for much speaker. I have the 22" version of this model as a computer monitor and Im using this 29" for my bedroom. Overall 4.75 out of 5. Just educate yourself about the right tv for your situation and youll be happy. 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Vizio Has Done It Again. By Lee Daly This is my 5th Vizio TV and once again, I am not disappointed! I have a 55" in my living room, a 42" in my bedroom and two smaller models in my RV. I purchased this one for my outdoor patio. Being outdoors, I needed a clear picture free of reflections and bright enough to see at a distance. This one fits the bill on all counts. In addition, the price was right, shipping was free and I did not have to pay tax. It arrived within the time advertised and in excellent condition. This was an 'overall' excellent transaction. Samsung UN40ES6003 40" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV
Product DescriptionTime to snuggle and watch TV. Is it time to upgrade to a larger screen TV? This Samsung isn't only larger, it's got better imaging and sound. Prepare for a better experience with the best TV in its class.
This year is the time to broaden your view with a larger screen HDTV. When you want a greater viewing experience, people who know, stop and get a Samsung. The UN40ES6003 40" 1080p LED TV features two integrated down-firing full range speakers for a combined total of 20W (two 10W speakers). The HDTV is Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby Pulse certified. Basically, DD+ and DP are a new way of listening to music from less than desirable audio sources. Originally developed to boost the sound quality of Internet music sources, the technology now enhances your speakers and the sound output on your TV so that even small speakers have a shot at a grand sound.
The TV also includes SRS TheaterSound HD to deliver multi-channel sound. Another technology that Samsung provides is their Wide Color Enhancer Plus. This allows sharper color processing and less saturation for greater clarity. Even with fast moving action scenes, the images remain natural in tone and clear in definition.
A stylish design and stunning HD images makes the LED ES6003 Series a great treat for any TV enthusiast. The Full HD 1080p resolution and Clear Motion Rate of 240 combine to deliver realistic action in every frame.
Clear Motion Rate (CMR) was developed to accurately measure how well a LCD or LED TV can depict fast-moving images. LED TVs with a CMR of 240 can display action-packed movement with sharp detail and deeper levels of contrast while eliminating image distortion.
Wide Color Enhancer Plus allows you to witness the entire RGB spectrum brought to life on your screen to bring you exceptionally vibrant, yet natural-looking images faithful to the director's original intent.

Looks as good as it performs By David Bickford Bought this for my man garage, and I couldn't be more impressed. Keep in mind these few things when buying this TV. This is a TV that should be paired with a receiver. There are only two HDMI inputs, so make sure your receiver can handle all the inputs you need. If you are wall mounting, make sure the brackets that attach to the TV are no more than 2 inches wide...if they are, it will block the power cord input. That being said, here are the pros. Wall mounting was like hanging a picture. I was able to lift and position solo. Without the stand, its only like 23lbs. The picture is crisp, and the design is simple and classy. The bezel is not very wide, so you are mostly looking at screen. Everyone is impressed with how thin the TV is. Great for what I needed. I would not recommend this as your main TV, because it just isn't big enough...go for a 46" or bigger!Update... I have had this TV for about a month now and no issues. To help you out in your decisions, I spend a lot of time researching specs and prices of many brands before making a purchase. The main reason I spent time learning about this TV was the price. There are not many comparable TV's at this price point, with the features I was looking for. I have seen some good deals on panasonic TV's, but have had no experience with panasonic TV's before. I think because this TV is not a smart TV, and does not have 3D, the price is a bit lower. Consumers are so hyped up about those features, that TV's without them are falling in price. I didn't want either of those features, but I did want what this TV has to offer. Slim, light, reasonably priced, good contrast ratio, and simple design. I would have preferred 240hz, but since this TV has the Samsung 240 motion feature, and because this is a backup TV, I accepted the 120hz. Because of the 120hz and no smart options, I would expect this TV to be outdated within 2 years, but still useable for 4-6 years. 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. So far, so good! By supergirl Love this TV so far. Did a lot of comparison shopping and had certain criteria I really wanted but did not want to pay a crazy price for.I finally upgraded from an old tube tv and this was worth the wait.I wanted an LED TV, wanted it to be very slim, 1080p, at least 40", from a name brand, with good picture quality and did not want to spend a lot of money, this perfectly fit the bill. Most LED tv's are thicker and the slim ones tend to be the premium tvs that are very expensive.I decided I'd rather get a high quality slim tv, than get a bigger thicker more clunky looking one that might have more features. The thousand plus premium tv's were out of my budget so I wanted to get the closest and most I could for the least amount. This TV isn't a "Smart" TV, but to be honest there are other ways to get the same features of a smart tv with a Roku or Apple TV, so I figured I could add those on later if I wanted to and TV technology and evolution moves pretty quickly so even if I could spend a lot right now I think I'd rather wait and see where they head and have prices come down a bit. Who knows maybe Apple will release a full Apple TV one of these days...! One important thing to note is that when I first got this TV, I thought it looked really weird and bad and was disappointed and thought I made a mistake. Things were blurry, not crisp and everything including movie and dramas looked like a cheap video reality tv, or a documentary. I did some research on settings and had to change the incoming resolution on my cable box which was set at 480dpi to 1080. Then found out about the "soap opera effect" caused by the Auto Motion Plus setting. Once I found this setting under picture options and turned it off the weird effect went away and things looked normal. I also adjusted some color and other settings and things improved drastically with these changes. I believe this only applies to LED tvs starting and above 120Hz. Had I not figured out the Auto Motion plus sensor and found out about the Soap Opera effect I think I would be tempted to return the TV. 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Very good Set By EMLG Have had my TV for a week now and I would have to say it's pretty good. Nothing beats a Samsung, had a Sony 42in that I returned for this set and am not regretting it at all. Bought this TV for my little man cave and mainly for video games. The picture is really nice and the box actually says that it's 240hz. Very crisp picture, and colors are nearly perfect. The only flaw is when you watch a black screen you can see the light bleed in patches but honestly, it's not a big deal as you can't tell 98% of the time. Awesome for video games and watching sports. The TV is very slim and when mounted looks great. See all 5 customer reviews...

By Matth3w22 PROS: - Abundant user features - Slim compact designCONS: - Does not work well with analog tv - Poor image quality - Sub-par reception - Annoying setup experienceMy wife received this t.v. as a Christmas gift this year for our kitchen television. A few days later, I was installing it. After routing the antenna cable (we rely on local HD channels combined with internet tv rather than cable), I hooked up the t.v. and fired it up.The setup was straight-forward and intuitive with language selection, time zone, etc... The setup then proceeded through a channel setup as expected. What I did not anticipate was no picture after the channel setup was complete. I checked everything, and still no picture. After an hour or so, I turned off the t.v. and hooked it up where another t.v. in the house was connected and working - and it worked!I brought it back to the kitchen and re-connected it and it worked. Apparently it needed to be cycled off/on after setup. I began running through my channel lineup of about 35 local channels. I was severely disappointed with the picture quality as well as the reception. Channels that worked well on every other tv in my house were flickering in and out on this tv. In addition the image quality was definitely not HD 1080p as identified. When I would attempt to select channel 12 by entering 12, the tv would change channels and instead of displaying 12-1 like every other t.v. in my house it displayed 12 and a no signal banner. The t.v. does not interface well with analog television signal. The color adjustment was off and did not represent flesh tones correctly. No matter how much I messed with the settings I could not find an adjustment I was satisfied with. This t.v. was going back to Sam's Club. Instead I purchased a Samsung 24'" model LT24B350ND and could not be happier. The Samsung was $50 more but worth every penny. The reception is perfect, image quality is superb to the JVC, and there are absolutely no concerns at all.Apparently you get what you pay for when you buy a $150 television. One good thing to say about the JVC is that it has an abundance of user features and adjustments but it's still going back. See all 1 customer reviews...
